If hurts starts vs Lsu this season I think Aranda will shut them down like last year yr Canada will be able to manufacture 13-17 point which will be enough to win. If Tua starts I will worry because he can throw. If Saban thinks he's ready then it's a different ball game. Bottom line though if Aranda sees hurts again they may not even score more than 1 td

Raymond is smart and can recruit. He can keep learning Aranda style and step right in with the same D. He will get the talent in with help of O and meatballs and Lsu defense will stay strong

Adolescent behavior which reinforces that this is a sewer of a website. I agree there are posters who want LSU to lose because they want to say "I told you so." Some people enjoy being miserable and making others miserable. Some don't want to give Coach 'O' a chance. Most have never played or coached but have theories.

None of you geniuses have any ida his long Aranda will stay here. It starts with a topic about LSU's defensive game plan and hijack thread and turn it toxic.

Another poster says the refs wouldn't allow the fans to go to overtime. I have officiated for 34 years. It is not our job to determine whether a game will go to overtime or not or decide any outcome. We call what we see and yes, we will miss a call in certain cases but nothing s by design. That poster is some loud mouthed idiot who had no clue what we do just like he had no idea how to coach a team or how to play the game.

Some of you represent the worst in LSU fans.

What am I missing here...Everyone is excited because he figured out that Bama runs 10-12 plays out of the same formation.

Did he figure out how to stop them? The criticism on Auburn by our fans is that Gus runs the same 3-4 plays out of the same formation.

He watched and broke down film on Bama vs their opponents, and defensive film of those teams, and did a self analysis of his own defense all in about a week.

Through 3 full quarters LSU held Bama to 0 pts, 218 yards on 47 plays, 3-12 on 3rd downs, and forced 2 turnovers.

They eventually gave up scores in the 4th and ended up playing 70 snaps with t.o.p of about 33:30.

I wouldn't count any coach's 8 game interim as running a program
arguing against you on this one Rickdaddy... this one is not so clear cut. On his first day as interim HC Orgeron fired the OC. So I'll grant you he didn't full reigns, and he damn sure didn't build. But, it was an interim with a mission statement. That mission was anything but hold down the fort.

When he analyzed Les's LSU OFFENSE, he had to use 2 words, instead of 2 boards.

One of the best in the business. Hopefully he is a lifelong assistant type and no a head coach type.

A HC spends too much of his time doing PR and fundraising. The assistants do the real football stuff.

I'm sorry, Orgeron was hired in January 2015 and Thomas was hired in April of 2013. So it was slightly less than two years

You don't think Coach O saw the writing on the wall with Kiffin tanking at USC? CEO knew his next job was at LSU (Les had tried to hire him before he went to UT) if it didn't work out at USC. He called Les and put in a good word for Austin. Apparently, Les listened.

It's not like AT was a coordinator that everyone had heard of. His entire college career was behind the scenes working with Coach O.

So you're doubling down on the idea that Miles hired Thomas because Orgeron was the defensive line coach at USC?

It wasn't because CEO was the DL coach at USC it was because he was going to be a coach at LSU and wanted Austin Thomas there when he did show up.

What was our connection to other coaches we hired?

Hmmm, coaches huh? What side of the ball does Austin Thomas coach again? Was it the great performance his position turned in during the championship game that made Les and LSU aware of him?

Are you suggesting lsu reached out to a former usc dline coach and got his input on whoch coach we should hire?

It seems that you are not aware that Austin Thomas is not a coach. You can learn stuff from being on the Rant after all, huh?

I am saying Coach O reached out to Les and suggested he hire Austin Thomas. There is no way Les would have ever heard of Austin without CEO's input.

Yeah because the defense lost the game against UF

Actually, it was the "absolute genius" who gave up a 1=play 98 yard scoring drive. If not for that LSU would have won the game.

Damn dude, the kissing bandit has you outside your mind thinking about him. What the hell does the smoocher have to do with this thread. I can post some links to his bio and pictures if you want. I'm sure he is flattered by your obsession.

WTF? Trying to drag the conversation a little are we? I don't believe I have ever talked about CLM's first three years at LSU and don't intend to in this thread, especially since it has nothing at all to do with the topic being discussed.

Why? He's making more money at LSU than he would if he left for the NFL? It wouldn't make sense.

I think he is a coordinator type of guy. I think that is what he enjoys doing and is comfortable at doing. I don't see him being a CEO or head coach kind of guy. Maybe later on in his career.

I see Orgeron being a head coach kind of guy because he has that particular skill set. So far, at least with the media, Orgeron has been great with that aspect of the job. Of course, it isn't hard to be better than Miles was at that aspect of the job.

Holy shite. Did you just used stats to say temple has a better defense than lsu.

You insinuate a lot of stuff don't you. Temple - the defensive juggernaut year-in year-out was rated higher in 2016 than LSU's defense. The did not have 2 defensive players drafted in the first round either. 4 players in the first 3 rounds or 5 players drafted in the first 5 rounds. They still only had 3 losses on the season.

What they did though is finish in 1st place in the same conference your obsession finished 6th in. Hell, they were actually able to use the defense to do what Herminator couldn't, they beat both SMU and Navy.

I wonder if Matt Rhule brought the DC with him to Baylor. I also wonder if the new Oregon coach is glad he won't have to lose to the Temple defense again.
