Darius Days impact of staying on the court

Keep in mind, we are 18-7 on the season right now.
In games in which Days fouled out, we are 2-3 in. All 5 games Darius fouled out in, were road games, the 2 we won, were Texas A&M (overtime win) and Ole Miss (4 point win)...2 games we easily could have lost. He only averaged 20 minutes a game in these games, and 2 of them went to OT (2 games were 45 minutes long). He didnt play more than 25 minutes in any 1 of those games.
In games which he picks up 3 or less fouls, we are 12-2 in those games.
Darius is really key to this team winning games, and that's simply by staying on the dang court really. Team is simply not deep enough to have him sitting the bench for extended period of time in foul trouble or fouled out.

He don’t move his feet and he reaches. Bad combination

Yea I was wondering how we kept letting Herb get rebounds,
Then it hit me our best overall rebounder was barely on the court. With him I think we win.
Maybe he should start coming off the bench just so everyone can get a feel for the refs before he comes in.

I'm not actually against this, maybe start Taylor or Manning then put Days in at 1st TO or something, see if he gets in the flow of the game easier that way.

I think he probably needs to come off the bench next game with UK running 3 guards most of the game.

really hard to play defense as a tweener in our current scheme. He’s assigned the paint when the ball gets inside but is almost always out of position because he’s having to rotate from the perimeter. Emit gets classified more as a big so he gets to stay closer to the paint, and the guards get to shade to the perimeter, Days is stuck in between. He could be better with his hands, but for as many legit fouls as he picks up, he also seems to lose the benefit of the doubt battle on every bang bang play he’s part of.

I’ve been thinking this. I’d also say, with Manning back, we don’t need to have Watford, Williams, and Days all out on the court at the same time as much. It would let days play D closer to the rim and I think our overall D is better when either Taylor or Manning is out there.
I think Wade will start doing this if Manning is 100%

A lot of the fouls aren't just him getting beat off the dribble and reaching. Many are just the product of over-aggressiveness, which is kind of a double-edge sword for Wade. Days plays hard. As a coach you absolutely love his effort. But more than anything he has to develop a sense of discretion. When you are out of position on a rebound, loose ball, sometimes you just have to let it go. When you get frustrated because of a missed shot (and those moments happen often with him), you can't compound the issue with a bad foul.
Personally, I think he his LSU's best all around player. That is, he may not be the best at any one aspect, but he can do a lot of things well. Particularly on the offensive end. He can score inside, outside, and at all points in between. He attacks the glass like his life depends on it and rarely let's anyone best him with just pure effort. He just has to stay on the floor because he really is a difference maker

why cant he control himself. you know he wants to be on the court. most of his fouls, btw, are bullshite. His 4th foul saturday was a literal slap in the face as he was swiping for a low percentage strip of the ball

Agree on most points in this thread.
Ultimately it is up to Days to figure it out. You would think he would have learned by now. It shouldn't take fouling out of 5 games to adjust.

Look no further than the rebound issues when he was out vs. Bama. Was moreso than anything the reason we lost, the offensive rebounds in that stretch killed us.

He’s not getting beat of the dribble then reaching, but he is reaching. He’ll do things like going for a loose ball, not getting there in time, then reaching out of frustration. Many times it’s on someone who isn’t a threat to score. That’s the frustrating part.

Getting the 4th foul 27 seconds into the 2nd half against Bama was over the top. And they are ticky tac reaching fouls because he doesn't move his feet.
