I get that it’s a night to celebrate and go hard, but please: call a driver and get home safe.

Danny is pretty far down the list of elite QBs at LSU, so did you start following Tiger Football in 2016?

Summer of 2015, Im pulling a boat from Hou to Gulf Shores for our family vacation. We got a late start so stayed overnight at Lod Cook on Sat night. We got in after midnight, so I just parked under the porte cache.

I was up the next morning fricking around with the boat when Les comes walking up says nice boat and to have a great day on the water. I walk back in the lobby a few mins later and he is having breakfast with the Etling family closing the deal on the transfer.

My dumbass interrupts and asked if anyone wanted to do some wakeboarding. Les doesnt miss a beat and says let him finish breakfast first. I drop a have a GREAT day on the table and hit the road to the beach.

A good time was had by all.

If you think about it, LSU hasn’t developed a really good non-transfer QB since Flynn.

Best one since Flynn was likely Max Johnson.

Lee was mediocre, JJ was mediocre, Jennings bad, Harris mediocre, Finley mediocre, Johnson not bad.

Brings up a very interesting point…

Our best QB’s since Flynn have all been transfers…

Mett
Etling
Burrow
Daniels

Time for the next phase, staring with Nuss…. We recruit and develop elite QBs!

Etling was decent but nothing special. If he was elite, we might have beaten Bama in 2017.

DJ Chark was wide open for a touchdown on the first drive of the game and Etling completely under threw him. We could have scored a few times that night with some good QB play.

Your memory is spot on. An elite quarterback defeats Sabama that night.

Mett was worlds better than etling. And I loved Etling.

Yeah, probably so, but (using LSU stats only) he only has ~1200 more passing yards than Etling, with “one more season” than Etling. Mett has 7 more passing TDs, though (35 to 27).

Mett had a 2.83 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio, while Etling had a 3.85 to 1 ratio.

Etling added 174 yards rushing with 3 TDs.

Mett had -313 rushing yards with 0 TDs.

So…is 5,470 total yards, 35 total touchdowns, and 15 interceptions “worlds better” than 4,760 total yards, 30 total touchdowns, and 7 interceptions?

I’m not sure what lost fumbles would show.

No doubt Mett was the better arm talent, though. Doesn’t make him “worlds better” as LSU’s quarterback, though.

For you Mettenberger was better people, if you would have given Danny Football Odell and Jarvis to work with, Etling would have won the Heisman.
