I thought this in real time, and went back and watched. Boutte came in motion and was WIDE open in the flat, defender fell down, Daniels looked right at him and pulled it to run. Thank God we scored...but why not just dump it off to Boutte? Boutte gets his first TD of the year, and Daniels avoids a hit....win, win!

Don't get me wrong. I like Daniel's, a lot, but he is trying to be Lamar Jackson. I just feel like, with enough hits, we are going to lose him at some point.

The defender fell down late, IMO. Initial look it was covered well.

I noticed it watching some highlights just now. Seems like he turned to run just before Boutte was getting open.

You can also see how he doesn't really look in the middle of the field often. Everything is to the outside.

Hopefully we get that cleaned up.

There were so many open receivers, but it’s clear that Daniels trust his feet more than his vision and arm at this juncture

I have no doubt in my mind Daniels either starts running less or doesn’t finish the season without Howard at least filling in 1-2 games.

If your QB is consistently your leading rusher, it’s just a matter of time.

It was covered when he looked his way. It is a situation had he let the play actually develop he could have hit Boutte. Also, not that Daniels knew this and that’s why he ran just what I observed, there is a chance if he throws that they call offensive PI on the pick.

Either way I’m sorry I’m just not going to get upset when the run got the exact same result the throw would have gotten him. I don’t care if Daniels or Boutte scores the touchdown.

Boutte was not open when he made his cut.
Daniels made the right call on the TD.

That's by design. It's what Denbrock/BK want him to do.

You’ll care when we have to start Nuss in a big game due to a Daniels injury. I like the kid, but that number of rush attempts is risky.

Boutte was well covered when he made the read. It was an RPO, you only have 2 seconds to decide after the snap. He made the right read.

If you watch it from the opposite end zone angle you can see he really wasn't even looking at Boutte. He was reading the edge guys. They took a step towards Boutte in the flat and Daniels immediately hit the crease it created. As someone else said it was most likely an RPO

I take from that pic is the gaping hole for Jayden to run through for the endzone, 1/4th second before that picture and Kayshon is covered like white on rice

I wouldn't call that covered like white on rice, but I can see why he would abandon that throw

Keep in mind he doesn't have a ton of time to make the decision and you don't want a sack there.

There were plenty of times he missed the read. I don't think this was one of them.

The DB over the top still has his eyes in the backfield and is in a position to break on any pass thrown that direction.

It’s a rub route, Nabers isn’t blocking for a screen.

How about we score whatever way we can, K? Obviously, whether or not he was open is debatable. Let’s just be happy Daniels saw the opening and went for it.

Easy pump fake left and pass to 7 for an easy score. Ball could have been thrown to where only 7 could catch it.
