I do not agree that he has been coached to overlook wide-open receivers downfield.

Also, his yards per pass attempt is 5.7. That is anemic

5.7 is anemic.

6.8 is Daniels YPA, which isn't great either.

Not the worst in the SEC though.

That would be Anthony Richardson at 5.49

Dude. BK was on his arse a few times for missing WRs by several yards (and those weren't throws while being chased by linemen). He's talented, but the accuracy stat is not telling the story here.

LSU yards per attempt 2022

Not that it matters, but LSU is 105th in yards per pass attempt at 5.7 yards, a pathetic number that recalls the Les Miles days. To put it into perspective, this team has nowhere near the running game that Miles's teams had. No way LSU wins many games if that stat holds up. NO.WAY.

The beauty of it all is that he is not as bad as everyone says he is and he’s also not as good as others say he is.
Factually, the 5.7 Ypa is not good for us.
On the bright side, if he progresses and can at least improve his decision making we could possibly exceed expectations.
Not fans expectations, but the coaches and Vegas’s expectations. AND that will likely put us in the top 13-20 at year end. That would be quite an accomplishment.

Pretty much sums it up.

His accuracy sucks. I don’t care about those statistics. The vast majority of those passes could be completed by a good high school QB. His percentage is good because he takes the easy throws only. When he’s asked to throw challenging routes he either can’t do it or chickens out. He is a weapon because of his mobility, and he is the best option we have, so I’m not complaining, but don’t tout his accuracy, because it’s terrible.

By the end of the year we will be saying we’re lucky to have this guy.

I’m saying that now. But see my post above.

I can be pleased but that is an inconclusive data set.

I could throw 10x a game with nothing longer than 5 yards and complete 80%… would that make me the best QB in football?

As I said, if he can somehow see the field in totality both presnap and postsnap, there is little this offense could not do. It would be a sight to behold. My concern is that this guy has been at it for several years, albeit in a different system, but understanding defenses is not especially dependent on the offensive scheme.

The number includes Nuss's numbers which may actually be worse, but the passing game is currently a major hindrance.

You to have to have a good downfield passing game and we have a week one now. Good SEC defenses will start to crowd the line and put a spy on Daniels, daring him to make downfield passes.

He looks good at times but he also way off the mark with some throws…
What concerns me the most is that he doesn’t hit the receiver until he’s open and not as he breaks too the ball…

Daniels is 87th in the NCAA @ 6.78. The discrepancy is that Team rankings does not use non FBS schools to calculate the numbers. Which is cool. Though on the individual player stats they show Daniels at 6.7 YPC

Not a coincidence - they’re both elite athletes at the college level. Imagine what they did to high school teams. If you wanted to try to stop them from running there were going to be WIDE open receivers.

That effect diminishes at the college level and almost completely disappears in the pros, but guys like JD and AR aren’t used to playing defenses who have the athletes to both play coverage and the run.

So of the 107 guys ahead of him, how many would you prefer run our offense?

It's probably if the 1st option is not open...RUN!

That's what it looks like to me...and because of that he is putting up excellent stats.

Lol seriously? It’s not a video game out there. Myles Brennan barely completed 60% of his passes while at lsu and he usually had way more help around him.
