We are putting together our road crew for LSU Miami and need to decide where to stay in Dallas. We stayed at Gaylord resort for Oregon game which was nice but we want to be downtown where the action is. Can anyone recommend a downtown hotel or downtown area where there are lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance? Where will LSU fans be hanging out?

As a side note, I think New Orleans will always have an advantage hosting Super Bowls and such because of the French Quarter and Warehouse district. Few cities have anything close to that sort of walk around atmosphere.

Go to Fort Worth. Worthington, or the new aloft should be open by then.

Dallas has a ton of rooms and I don’t think Dallas is exactly a huge Labor Day destination.

Good downtown spots are the Joule and the Omni. The Ritz and Hotel ZaZa are great uptown spots.

I have always stayed at the Hilton Fort Worth. Fort Worth is so much more fun than Dallas as far as I’m concerned. The hotel is a block from the LSU team hotel and is where JFK stayed the night before he was shot. There is a Ruth’s Chris in the hotel and a Capital Grill across the street. Great hotel, great location. It can’t be beat!!! Right down the street is mi Cocina Mexican restraunt. It is amazing. Get the ribeye fajitas. They come topped with fried onions and it is my favorite dish ever. Plus awesome margaritas!!

Highly recommend the Omni & downtown Ft. Worth. Sundance Square is an easy walk & will be hopping that weekend.

Short trip to JerryWorld also.

How old is your group? Are you just looking for sports bars or clubs or live music or what?

Dallas has a lot to offer, but it's huge. If you aren't in the right area, it can be a pain in the arse to get where you want to go with a group.

Thanks for all the replies. I have stayed at a lot of these places on business, but have not walked around much from hotel. The Anatole is nice, but it doesn’t seem to be a great area to walk around. I have stayed at zaza and stoneleugh, I guess that’s the area to go if we don’t go to FW.

My group is mixed, half sixty yr old guys like me with wives and half 30 yr oldish adult kids who will want to outparty the old folks.

Downtown FTW also has 2 new hotels as well, very nice Hampton & Fairfield less $$$ than the Omni.

You won't believe the number of great restaurants & bars within a 10 square block area. Very clean, walkable & safe (patrolled by FTW PD + private security force packing Glocks) so no worries about staying out late.

This is where I send my client execs to stay when they visit DFW & there's been nothing but great reviews by them all.

Dallas is fine if you wind up there, but Cowtown is the best kept secret in N. Texas. Have lived here 33 years & seen both cities evolve. I'll take FTW any day.

Well first off, nothing that weekend actually goes on in Dallas proper. Downtown Dallas is pretty dead aside from American Airlines center. You’ll want to stay in Fort Worth or Arlington. Me and my Group got an Airbnb walking distance to Cowboys stadium. There’s plenty to do in downtown Fort Worth and Arlington. You won’t need to be in Dallas proper.

Airbnb. Its cheaper and you can rent a whole house if you want for the price of a hotel room.

For cool bars check out Lower Greenville Avenue and Deep Ellum. Thats where everything is popping now-a-days.

Anywhere really. Tiger fans will be everywhere. Personally, I like close to the stadium vs Dallas. Prioritize tailgating.
