Shaq was a force at LSU. That one year with Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, and Shaq is still mind boggling we didn’t go to the final four. Chris Jackson was the man when he was here. He reminded me of Trey Young in today’s game.

What sucks is LSU was hungry going into that game. They were beating Tennessee’s arse when that happened. Dale mentioned winning the SEC tournament and maybe getting a 3 seed in the NCAAT, but all of that came to an end when Shaq threw his elbow. Two days later Shaqless LSU lost to Kentucky 70-64 and LSU received a 7 seed in the tournament. Lost to Indiana in the second round. A run in the SECT with Shaq would’ve given them a higher seed in a different bracket. Things probably would’ve been different.

Should have been a 1 seed with all the talent that team had……. I love Dale and he is the best bball coach LSU ever had but he screwed that team up.

It really isn't. Stanley and Shaq were freshmen and not really great players at that point. I think people say this based upon potential.

good point, Shaq got better over time but people on here overrate his skills as a collegiate based on what he accomplished as a pro

I saw it live. I don't need to watch it again. Funny thing is that if your on the playground and you do that shite to a player like Tennessee did to Shaq. You get your arse beat down on the court.

hell, we couldn't even win the SEC that year. I was at the game in Athens near the end of the year, that effectively decided the regular-season championship. We were up big in the second half and then collapsed and lost. With Shaq, Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, Vernell Singleton, and other very good role players.

Dale could motivate a less talented team to play above their heads, but he didn't do as well with talented teams.

Shaq loved to dramatically swat shots up into the seats until someone finally taught him it’s better to block them with a little less force so LSU could get possession of the ball.
Dude was so much fun to watch.

Saw Shaq, Stanley Roberts and CJ when LSU played at Vandy in the early 90s. It was absolutely awesome. Switched seats at halftime and had to walk past the LSU players as they were warming up under the basket. Roberts and Shaq were monsters. Wish all 3 would have had one more year together at LSU. Would have been a NC for sure.
