What’s crazy is that I was born in 97, but I watched older games on YouTube and he was a master motivator but he was a lot better defensive coach than given credit for the freak defensive

Nothin, huh?
I’m just gonna assume you’re full of shite. Pretty safe assumption.
Let that be a general rule: if someone tells you to go look something up and gets all pissy when you want them to post it, it’s because they’re full of shite.

Out of his 25 years at LSU he only has 10 20+ win seasons.. and a whole lot of below .500 seasons. Let’s just look at wades first five years and the way it’s trending. Stop getting burthurt because a lot of you grew up watching dale coach. Let’s face it tho, he was OK. Think some might be a little jealous to what Wade has already accomplished in 5 years

Not sure why it has to be one or the other. I love Wade. I also really appreciate what Dale did for the program and he believe he is deserving of the honor. I also don't care for some things he's said about Wade and the current state of the program. All of these things can exist at once.

Wade presser
Starts at the 15 minute mark.
Let me know if you need to wipe your arse too.

The greatest LSU basketball coach ever currently. Will be passed up by Willy Wade one day.

Watch wades answer to the question about brown that ended yesterday’s press conference
He started off his press conference saying he is happy for Coach Brown, that it is a well deserved honor and that he is proud of LSU's basketball history of which Dale Brown is a huge part of.
I do think some feelings changed at some point with Brown toward Wade and maybe vice versa when Wade wasn't cooperating with LSU when he had that first moron attorney who was telling him not to talk with LSU when the whole "damn strong offer" crap came out. Things seem a little better now. When Wade was first hired, Dale Brown called him an A+ hire who had everything you could want in a coach.
I think it seems pretty clear that Wade does things his way and he and Dale don't have much of a relationship beyond Wade knowing he played a huge role in LSU basketball history.

I mean if you want to compare apples to apples compare Dale's first 5 years to WW's first 5.
Each took over after one of the worst single years in the history of LSU basketball....literally. Little or no talent on either of their squads and program infrastructure gutted, so they each started from a similar template.

I remain in saying that it needs to be Gunter/Brown Court. She had a larger impact on this university than he ever did!

Thanks for all the below average subpar seasons. Really, thank you dale!!

My favorite LSU coach in any sport. Dale Brown started my love of LSU - as a 12 yr. old I’d listen to LSU basketball games on the radio if they weren’t on TV. Loved that guy and his underdog teams. It’s ridiculous how the ignorant youngsters here treat him.

I forgot how long has Wade been at LSU? He won the SEC in just his second year. LSU has made the tournament every year but his first. LSU has the most wins in the Sec the past 3 years. I can continue if need.. will wade will bring hardware to LSU!
And by your definition he has accomplished nothing because he hasn't won a national title. That aside, you asked what Brown accomplished. People listed his accomplishments. It's not a discussion as to who is better (between Wade and Brown). It was simply are response to your inquiry as to what did Brown accomplish.
I think you are fighting an argument in your head that no one else is.

Why doesn't he deserve to have the court named after him?
Basically because he did not win a national championship. I get that he won multiple SEC titles, went to the big dance 13 times in 25 years, but I just don't think its enough to have a permanent part of the arena named after you. And no, I don't think a coach of a year award equates with a player of the year award, I've seen that argument made before.
I wish we could honor him in some kind of way, but save the stadiums/courts/fields, etc. for those who get the ultimate prize.
That being said, I'll be there tonight as this is a once in a lifetime type thing and really do appreciate his tenure and everything he did for LSU hoops. I just think it could be premature, but I totally understand and agree that if we have to name the court after someone, it should be him.

No. He was actually Tack Minor’s roommate for a year.

And Jordy's source for bball is usually Wade, whether Wade actually told him that stuff about Dale or Jordy just made it up Im not sure.

When Will Wade gets to 2 final fours, I’ll shut up and listen. Until then, if you are ignorant of history…GTFO!

I wasn’t alive when he was coaching but I’ve seen the games on YouTube, and he was an excellent coach based on the games I’ve watched
He was better known for his recruiting, PR, and motivational skills. His coaching skills received a lot of ridicule. He was never pegged to be the egomaniac that people now say he is. He did a lot for the community. I always thought he was a little off center but the PMAC used to be packed and rowdy and students would spend the night outside the PMAC to get in. That Duke Christian Laettner game was an amazing experience

I agree. Though he won't be the first HC to have the court named after him even though he didn't win a NC.
Like him or not, the Brown era was the peak of LSU basketball. If you weren't there in the 80's you can't really comprehend how popular the program was to the fanbase. Students camping out on the ramps to get in the stadium. National TV appearances. Packing 60K fans in the Superdome for a regular season game.
If all you know of LSU basketball is the last 30 years or so then all your really know is inconsistent play and inconsistent fan support. But there was once a time where the Deaf Dome really lived up to its name. Dale was fully responsible for that. He barnstormed the state to get interest in a program that really have very little in the 60+ years before he arrived.
