So if we were 10-2 with a defense ranked near last in the nation and giving up 40 points a game you don’t make a change?

what? No. You absolutely make no attempt to make the team better.

I hope SE is retained bc that just means O is gone sooner rather than later.

So, last season LSU was 9-3 and had 2 losses in SEC. OC change made

This season, LSU would be 10-2 with 2 losses in SEC. No OC change possible.

That one extra loss last season was when Orgeron took control of the offense game plan. Yet, that ONE extra loss is all the difference in the world?

I'm not calling for an OC change or predicting one. But, the idea that 10-2 is the magic formula is silliness.

Voluntarily is a big word there. It does appear that SE didn't really want the job. It's not the normal situation.

Even if he was forced out, it would be presented as voluntary.

Plain and simple, we need a new and talented OC to match our incredible DC to consider competing for the trophy. Talent wasted has become our offensive theme.

Did we not replace Crowton and Stud after going 10-2 both years?

eaux & alleva talked SE into taking the OC position, SE will gladly resume the TE coach position...

I hope so.

Ensminger is a hard-working baw who loves LSU. This experiment has not worked out.

Get him back to TE coach. Give him some glorified title and let someone else take the reigns.

well, one of the issues was that the W's blinded Les to some real problems that one day turned into L's. It caused him to believe the best course of action was NOT to change anything. Which caused TWO problems:

1. The obvious, he wasn't willing to change on offense
2. When change was forced upon him, such as Chavis, it wasn't handled well. There was always a rough 'transition'.

If Orgeron wants to follow the same path, well... he can follow it all the way to beer commercials.

103rd with this talent is not acceptable. The ONLY way it is acceptable... ONLY... is to win a NC with it. Otherwise it is a problem barring us from that goal and must be fixed. Period. Surely we can all agree that is the goal. And if we don't win one with that offense then it is NOT good enough.

That change had nothing to do with what was happening on the field. Canada had issues.

Can we agree to improve the positions that have underperformed this year? If you can answer this honestly, then you will see what people are really concerned about with this staff.

I agree Ed is a loyal guy. My money is he stays next year unless he does not want to do it anymore

There is a big difference between improve and replace. Sure we can improve offensively but firing E isn't going to happen.

His issues were that o wouldnt let him run his offense.

And even with that, his offense was vastly superior to the current offense.

Nor should he. Steve deserves a chance to get personnel in place and get it right.

Because they take better jobs. How many OCs has he fired?

I agree that SE isn't a long term solution, but this is kind of apples and oranges. I wish he'd just ask to go back to tight ends.

What I'm getting from this thread is that a new OC would be helpful, but may not happen.

And that even if it doesn't, our offense will be better next year anyway.

I don't disagree with any of that. But a new OC is my preferred route.

Teams fire coordinators all the time after successful years. Sometimes even during the year.

OU fired their DC just this year. We fired Crowton after 2010. It happens.
