D1 Baseball Projection

Before going to Ole Miss, D1 Baseball had us in the tournament. After winning a road series against a ranked Ole Miss, they now have us as the first 5 out the tournament. Don’t make much sense

I think we gave up 8 spots right before they went to press.

Depends on what else happened around the country during the week, too. Results don’t happen in a vacuum.

LSU is like 11th place in the SEC. I would hope the NCAA Tourney field is stronger than having to give an at large spot to one of the worst teams in the league.

LSU has to get to AT LEAST 14 wins in the SEC, counting SEC tournament games.
If we finish 13-17, we aren't in yet. We would have some work to do in the tournament.
This is basically verbatim from Kendall Rogers a couple of days ago.

Did not realize D1 Baseball had LSU in a Regional prior to Ole Miss.
Winning 2 of 3 in Oxford should count for something.
Still think LSU can finish in Top 8 or 9 in SEC. Have strong SEC Tourney in Hoover and sneak into the Ruston Regional @ LaTech were anything is possible!

Did you watch us play Grambling yesterday? They are 11-4 in their conference just behind an 18-0 Jackson State.

Would have helped a frickin lot to win game 3 at Ole Miss. All it would have taken is one win against Arkansas and 2/3 against Auburn, Alabama, and A&M which is very doable. Now to finish 14-16 they have to pull a rabbit out of their hat somewhere and take 2/3 from Arkansas or do something they haven't done all season which is sweep an SEC team.

Yep. If LSU misses the NCAA Tournament, it will very likely be because of that game.

The good news is, after Arkansas, the three teams remaining are all easier teams record wise. Bama is a team that is great one game and bad the next so who knows what you will get out of them. Aggies and Auburn both have played some really bad baseball. I'm not saying we sweep them, but we at least have a favorable schedule after Arkansas.

Team with LSU on the schedule are saying the same thing.

It does but that taking 2-3 from Ole Miss meant they dropped their thrid SEC series in a row. That combined with other stuff from around the country probably led to the projeciton.

On their April 20 projection they did not have LSU listed at all. Are you mistaking "Louisiana" for LSU?

Let’s face it...we most likely have to make it to SEC tourney championship game.

Kind of sounds familiar

Show me all of the other games LSU blew an 8-run lead in the 8th inning on the road against a top 15 RPI team.
Thanks.

It's quite the opposite of my point. The point is that SEC is strong enough to get 10-12 win teams into the field and it not be representative of a weak field.
