I don't agree with it from a philosophical standpoint because he's a generational guy at db. Learn your craft and dominate that spot.
At the same time my curiosity is piqued because maybe he's just purely special and is just that good offensively that the staff feels it's a benefit to the goals of the team now. If he is then I'm all for it though philosophically against it.
There have been many "capable" of excelling at multiple positions but how many have been truly so special that they couldve been "great" at both? I personally don't think Woodson would've been a great wr. College is not the NFL.

Play him both ways next year. Because we all know, this kid is only staying at lsu for 3 years.

I see no need to play him both ways next year unless we have a few injuries.

I think you play him both ways his Jr. year to keep him interested. Defensively he won't see hardly any action for 2 years.

He would have been a 5-Star receiver coming out of high school. Probably the most special athlete I've ever seen.

Under NORMAL circumstances I would tend to agree. BUT, we're not talking about Normal here. Stingley is a generational type player, one that we may not see for quite awhile again.
You capitalize on the exposure a talent like that can bring to your program. Without a doubt, Stingley will inspire those that come after him to want to be like him. JMO.

I could see him playing both ways....the question is "how many defensive snaps does he give up in order to ensure stamina/high-level performance for an entire game?"

Agreed. You're returning the best WR in the country followed by another guy that would be a #1 WR at pretty much every other school

I’ve watched him on punt returns and he seem to gradually get to his top speed vs that immediate burst I love him at corner I don’t see the need to have him at Wr with the horses we have

With Chase and Marshall leaving after this year, he may be able to get a few reps in 21
His value is on defense though and you can't risk injury on offense or special teams in my opinion.
If he does get any snaps on offense in 21 it will have to be in the flow of the game. You are not going to run him out there after a long drive by the other team's offense. But there may be instances you can use him certain sets and situations.

Football is supposed to be fun. If the kid wants to ball out both ways let him play both ways. College football is silly and weird and I love it. No need to take it too seriously all the time.

As far as defensive snaps, well IMO, it will depend on the opponent, for the lesser opponents I would give him at least 10 offensive snaps. Gentlemen, LSU is on the cutting edge, with the high tech hype videos, the high octane offense that others will definitely try to imitate, and a Coach that is always looking to market the LSU brand.

You take a supremely gifted athlete like Stingley and you take advantage of the situation and keep building your brand.

Picture the press conference the week after Stingley gets hurt catching a pass or returning a punt. Yea that would be a bad day for the Coach.
I get the Heisman thing, but I don't respect the pursuit of individual awards over team accomplishment.
I think Stingley could go down as one of the greatest tigers as a cornerback.

He might not be, but the dude does have great hands, phenomenal ball skills and elite speed, so I could see how he could be a phenomenal WR prospect if he wasn't a DB. And I could see teams shitting on themselves if LSU puts him out there (even if they use him as a decoy) when they'll have to defend Chase, Marshall and Gilbert too.

Imagine Stingley having 30-40 receptions on top of a handful of INTs. Add in his soon to be all-world coverage grades and you’ll have the first defensive Heisman since Woodson.

Picture the press conference the week after Stingley gets invited to New York for the Heisman presentation. Yea, that would be a good day for the Coach. (Half full glass here).

You have to keep him interested. No team is going to throw his way for the next two years.

You have seen how good he is when they are trying to throw the ball AWAY from him...imagine how good he will be when he has someone throwing it TO HIM!

And he will be two years older.
