It made sense last year for several guys from a $$$ standpoint, but it also didn't for several guys.

Most are not bashing the guys leaving. However the OP has been ignored.
Why is it that so many more leave fro LSU than other schools?

Some schools may use it as a recruiting tool. And by some I mean all.

LSU needs a better set of talking points on this topic. Several other competitors in our division apparently do a much better job of successfully communicating the pluses of staying.
This is just retarded.
Actually this is the truth...Yes LSU puts them in the league and prepares them for the league and we wish them the best in the NFL...The poster is stating that other competitors in the SEC have better talking points to keep there "good players" for the last year where as anybodies "great Star players" will go early regardless...Its something that has made me wonder as well.... where teams are getting there players to stay that are better than some of our jr's that are leaving early...

Mathieu and wing still come from the LSU farm system.

Again. Two year sample. Could be trend. Might not be. Too short of a sample to tell.

If it's the truth stripes list some players than other teams succeeded in keeping last year to garner better results than we did @10-3?
Aaron Murray stayed....how'd that work out for him?

Correct. But it's pointless to use them as an example of early attrition when they had no say in the matter. Their careers at LSU were over. Mathieu's was over before it started last year.

I have no problem with kids leaving. It sucks for LSU, but it is their career.
Agree. I always thought the purpose of going to college was to better enable yourself to support self and family. These men probably will make more in one year than I made in a lifetime (with both of my degrees).

Name them. Go ahead. Name all the players throughout the SEC that chose to come back for another year and then name all of the ones for LSU that made no sense for them to leave.
Our fans are acting like pussies because we had a few players leave last year that were surprising by some accounts. We haven't had a single player declare this year that is a big surprise.
Overreaction is the theme of this board though. Kind of like on the day of the Under Armour All American game when 5for5 turned into 1for4 and then everyone started crying saying that they knew Fournette was going somewhere else and that there was no chance he was coming here.

Remember when the theme of the board is that Miles and the staff didn't "develop talent".
There's always a crisis to be found.

Seriously ironic how some posters will complain about something and flip it and literally complain when the direct opposite is happening from their original complaint. This place is comic relief.

Fans need to understand that the NFL drafts more on physical ability than college production. If that weren't the case, then the Danny Wurffels and Colt Brennans of the world would be first round picks, while a guy like Mario Williams (2006 #1 overall pick) wouldn't sniff the 1st round.
Landry and Beckham had about as good a year as they could have at LSU. While neither is probably a 1st rounder (MAYBE Beckam) their draft stock is as high as it's going to get.
Johnson and Ferguson play a premium position in the NFL. They didn't have great years at LSU, but they have the physical abilities that NFL teams covet. NFL coaches can teach a guy technique. They can't teach him to be 6'3 300lbs with good speed and quickness. It would not shock me if one of these guys was the first LSU player to come off the board. Hell, Tyson Jackson was a top-5 pick! Al Woods who did nothing at LSU is a DL for the Steelers
LSU recruits the top athelets in the country. In doing so, they're getting players that are physically ready to be NFL players after a few years. Thus, the chances of many of them leaving early increases. The days of only Juniors who are projected to go in 1st round leaving early are over. Get over it! I'd be much, MUCH, more concerned if LSU was siging guys who physically had no chance of becoming NFL players.

Is wing still in the league? Did I miss something?

Since some seem to think this leaving early is an LSU failure of sorts that others don't fail at, I would dearly love to hear what they think those others are using as such compelling arguments to make kids not leave?
Oh sure. They are all bringing up Bama but, this two year sample we are larger than almost everyone. So, the whole "stay to win championships" argument can't be the ticket.
Here's a crazy thought. Maybe.....just MAYBE....it's an odd two year sample and nothing more.
Nah. Can't be.
