Because it isn’t considered “cool” these days, particularly within his age group. Your snarky reply supports the original statement.

NB, you won’t derail the intent of my OP. I admire the young man and the way he represents himself / LSU / his faith. I have my flaws but try to enjoy life, appreciate others, and each day that we are gifted.
You’ll deny this, but your response had to be exhausting.

Wishing everyone an awesome Sunday. Anthony will wrap this thing up quickly so we can start packing bags.

Hmm, Peter was crucified upside down on a cross. Another disciple was boiled in oil. Others beaten, and put in prison for what? Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus. That’s it, not causing riots or protesting or killing anyone who didn’t agree with them. Yeah, showing your faith in today’s society is courageous.

You’re right. Kanye is a great example
of Christianity to follow.

Have you even read Cliff notes of the Bible? Are you familiar with any of those people?

Do you own any kids in that age group?

I do, and I can tell you kids with a heart towards Christian faith in that age group is way way, way more common than you have any idea.

There is literally nothing courageous about being religious

In most cases, no. Sometimes it’s true, like in the case of Sir Thomas Moore who went to his death rather than grant his blessing to the King’s divorce and remarriage.

But people who have a hard time expressing themselves often want to assign unrelated virtues to a virtuous act. The opposite is true; they will assign unrelated defects to an evil act.

Openly expressing one's Christian faith has become a triggering mechanism for certain groups of people. It doesn't even matter to some people if you are minding your own business.

I like Curiel. I have no problem if his walk up song reflects his faith.

But suppose we had a player who was just as good a player as Curiel, if not better, and was just as good a hard worker and just as good a kid, but was a Buddhist with a walk up song reflecting his faith in Buddha.

Would we respect that kid as much as Curiel?

I am guessing the answer would divide along two lines.

Those who think our constitution guarantees freedom of religion would think highly of both kids, regardless of which god they believe in.

Those who think we are a Christian nation and want Christian prayer at school and games, would not want to hear a Buddhist walk up song.

Just keeping it real. A kid’s character is most often reflection of how well his parents raised him. A kids religion is most often the religion of his parents.

This topic seems more about religion than baseball.

Dying due to centuries of brain washing is not courageous, it’s idiotic.

You just proved why it’s courageous. In a day and age when it’s becoming simply taboo to display your faith no matter what denomination; he does it confidently and unapologetically.

The people in the Bible who are flawed af and yet represent the pinnacle of the Christian message.

If you’ve read the book you know damn well who I’m talking about. Ie, pretty much all of them.

Wait so you’re just saying that there are bad people in the Bible? Yeah I know that. I’m not sure what that has to do with Kanye

I think he is saying that Christians are sinners, but seek redemption. I think Kanye has some real mental issues more than being a bad person.
