So what I posted the other day still stands. It’s Vitello.

I've been thinking all week that it must be someone who is coaching in the CWS. It just makes too much sense with noone being announced yet and with SW's history of making splash hires.

I have no sources; this is just my opinion.

He’s an interesting candidate. He’s got a natty; 4 other Omaha appearances but hasn’t had a winning ACC record in his last 3 seasons.

Definitely not a hire that would excite me

It may very well be but Woodward is going to interview everyone. Anf he can't do that till the season is done or that team is out.

I agree. It’s a bigger deal though that Woodward has recognized that hires have been ruined by Chelsea Mannings, and is fixing it.

Well the Burrow family likes O'Connor. Thats good enough for me. Joe has an aunt and uncle from near us. We were on the same flights as them for the NC game.Their son (Joe's first cousin) is a frosh on the Virginia baseball team. They like O'Connor. Their son was excited to go there and play !

My God.

I hope you’re right. Vitello is exactly what this program needs IMO.

O’Connors record is far better than Johnsons

Because he's been coaching way longer

Johnson had Nevada ranked in the top 25
and now has been to 2 CWS

Both had down years in 2018-2019

Except his horrific reputation for ruining arms and his program has looked like shite the last few years until making it to Omaha again this year.

Believes Woodward is going after the biggest fish in the waters i.e. Corbin, Vitello

I hope this is true. Make Corbin say no, which I think he’ll stay put, but Vitello would be a huge hire. Vitello can certainly coach but he also has that “it” factor. The way his players respond to him is incredible and I’d be thrilled to see him coaching LSU.

I think he's going to make a run at Corbin and is waiting and if Corbin says no, he's going after McDonnell a lot harder.

Woody is taking his time, interviewing candidates from all over, and trying to make the right decision.

He's doing his job perfectly** in this situation, but people want to give him shite because the media makes up stories about everything.

**I reserve the right to turn on Woody and retract my comments about doing things perfectly if he settles and hires Bianco.

Woodward found the leaker and sealed them out of the important meetings

Why not make an example of them and fire him/her? Has to be Ausberry, if everyone says he's protected by Edwards.

He's a pretty big name in baseball man.

quote:

- 5× ACC Coach of the Year (2004, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014)

- ABCA, Baseball America National Assistant Coach of the Year (2001)

- AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year (2003)

- Atlantic Region Coach of the Year (2004)

- College Baseball Foundation Coach of the Year (2006)

- NCBWA, CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Coach of the Year (2009)

- Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game National Coach of the Year (2015)

Took over a shitty UVA program in 2004 that had been to the NCAA tournament 3 times in their history, the last being in 1996. Then he went in the following years:

quote:

2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021

Has been to CWS 5 times in 17 years, runner up once, and national champ once.

If he didn't have shitty years in 2018 and 2019 he would be near the absolute top of most peoples' list.

The only knock on him is really that he has a bad reputation for hurting arms.
