That's salesmanship right there.

You know those other 9 years that he was OC? He did nothing.

Miles definitely takes over at times. I'm not sure about it being mostly but it is obvious. You'll see him do it on the sidelines sometimes...I don't see how this is a shock to anyone. So yea, Miles is just as much to blame for the shitty offense past 3 years as Crowton.

Did not run it because Jefferson sucks. It turned into "do not lose the game".

Barely beating a div 2 school is embarrassing.

Both Miles and Crowton's past shows their offenses regress the longer they are somewhere. That's how our offense was as bad as it was last year.

When have we even played a division 2 school. And when did we almost lose to them?

It wasn't. Only when it successful was it his offense.

he was also the QB coach...or did you not know that?

MIles has been here going on 7 years. One of those years LSU just happened to have the most prolific offense in LSU history. So please explain what happened during those years of great offensive production......you know, since MIles slows down the offense and all by calling all the plays

Miles calls running plays when the other team loads the box! He almost never throws on first down

As soon as Jefferson becaume QB, the offense changed. People say that all of this ruined his career in NFL. All though it is all sad, he had no shot. He is like the 10th best in the SEC.

This is the most ridiculous coaching philosophy on God's green earth. Just plain lunacy! Why don't you win it in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters too?!! Do those quarters not count??!! And he gets a pass with this kind of mentality??

lil nicky's philosophy as well...

Wasting plays running up the middle. Was Les Miles running out the clock. Forcing the football game to be decided in the fourth Quarter. Is that what you guys get out of what Crowton is now telling the people in Maryland?

he and miles were just not compatible philosophically. it was crowtons job to adjust, and he did a poor job.

This is the key.

Great offensive minds can accomplish what they want within many different schemes.

Crowton couldn't do that. Miles' desire to have more traditional sets totally handcuffed Crowton from an effectiveness standpoint. But, to me, that says more about Crowton than it does about Miles.

Crowton seems to need the non-traditional, unorthodox sets to be affective. Even in that article, they are talking about him always having something up his sleeve. While that's nice, that is not the calling card for a great offensive mind.

I mean it was pretty evident that it wasn't his offense. Anyone affiliated with the team would tell you that. Les stepped in and took over. What kind of game plan is it to win in the fourth quarter?? That concerns me more than anything. We are always coming from behind with Les. We do win a lot of games, but why not win every quarter???

Passing game past 4 years under Crowton...

2007 225 ypg - Flynn
2008 201 ypg - Lee
2009 182 ypg - JJ
2010 155 ypg - JJ

I'll go out on a limb here and say the passing game will definitely improve this year (it can't go anywhere else.

Both Lee and JJ were thought to be talented recruits when they came in. Neither got significantly better in fact they regressed mentally mechanically or both during his tenure. He can be effective with a good qb-see Flynn. But when he has to develop them-Dennis dixon JJ JL he is lost and the offense suffers.

We ran new plays new formations and less screens as soon as Crowton took over. Very different philosophy from 2005/2006 to 2007 onward.

everyone on this board wanted Crowton fired because they felt he was ruining the offense but thought Miles would never do it.

Miles fires Crowton and now people are saying "Oh..it wasn't Crowton...it was Miles." Even though we haven't played a single game without Crowton in 4 years.

i sense a theme forming

Why was krag smart enough to ditch half the stupid formations we ran that basically told the defense what play was coming but crowton wasn't able/allowed to do this.

I am sorry but if you have OC in your title you are largely to blame.

That said at LSU and most places the OC isn't out there on a limb all by himself. It is more of a team effort than the cut and dried titles indicate.

Crowton's problem wasn't a lack of creative playcalling--it was developing talent and coaching quarterbacks.

Hence why we were so great his first year and progressively worse thereafter.

Malarky....everyone knows Crowton was in the box eating Bon Bons and watching Jersey Shore while collecting a check. Miles called every play......except when the offense was good ofcourse
