Yeah, what a big mistake. Kelly did not use his fortune teller to make sure his DL coach would make it to the season

Kelly didn’t make a call to Jenkins until it was too late. Did somebody (Woody) miss that opportunity to tell him about Jenkins?

We’ll fall to the domestic communists and there will be no more CFB by the turn of the next century.

Regardless of the circumstances, you can’t just ignore it and hope it works out for your team. Still I am not willing to crucify him over it, but it’s gotta hurt him knowing he should have addressed this immediately. Kelly definitely loves his team. That’s why I say that it’s gotta hurt him.

It wasn’t “ignored”. It was too late in the game to go out and hire anyone notable. So, instead, the covered the position from within. The staff did the best they could given the circumstances. Unfortunately, that hasn’t worked in our favor, so going out and pulling Pete in was the the next solution. You’re just trying too hard to make this reflect poorly on CBK. It’s just a crappy situation.

forgot to throw in how bad losing Gregg Brooks hurts on the back end

Losing your defensive captain in the secondary was a huge blow. That’s probably the main reason our communication in the defensive backfield has been so bad….and why you have one guy plan zone or man while the other 10 play the opposite.

This is such a stupid talking point. Our coach almost died a month before the first game.

And Jenkins could have been called to assist a month before LSU’s first game. Should we blame Woody instead of Kelly? Who should have made that call?

Why blame Woodward? It’s Kelly’s staff. Like Sir Fury already pointed out

DLinemen are the building blocks of any defense. A great Dline can cover a lot of deficiencies in the secondary. But a great secondary can’t cover up deficiencies from a bad Dline. It wouldn’t matter shite if you had the Honeybadger and others in the secondary if your Dline is atrocious.

Our DBs would have been bad regardless of how good our D-line could have been. Defensive backs were the weakness of this defense before we lost our DL coach & Greg Brooks. We simply missed in the portal

And you are ignoring the obvious. Jenkins is notable and was available if for anything to make sure Kelly’s staff new how to handle this situation with the Dline.

We are horrible at tackling it’s embarrassing…. It’s like watching the three stooges
However most SEC teams this year have problems on defense….we are just near the bottom

No. YOU’RE ignoring the fact that we moved someone within the program into that position. Why bring in an 80+ year old retiree when you have other defensive guys already on staff in analyst and other support roles? That didn’t work out as planned. But you can’t blame the coaches for trying, This entire thing is just a crappy situation that we are dealing with as best we can.

Because your other defensive guys didn’t know shite about coaching the Dline. It’s the same reason you Never use your maintenance man to plumb your new house.

This wasn’t a new house, moron. It was a busted pipe on the weekend. We thought we could get the maintenance guy to come in and turn the water off until we could get a plumber in. Again, it didn’t work. But criticizing CBK for going that route first is asinine. You’re using hindsight.

What happened with Kelly and his staff temporarily missing a key member of his personnel happens to many of us. Those of us in business have been through similar situations or witnessed it in other businesses and we’ve all seen it handled the right way and the wrong way. This was handled the wrong way. And nothing you post will change that!
