How about we just wait and see what a healthy Willis looks like next season.

Well duh, no one has the worth ethic of Hal. Easy to look like you don’t care next to Hal. Hal Hal Hal

Well then lets compare, say, Bregs work ethic when his approach lacked at the plate. Maybe unfair to compare Hal to Bregs talent but it was just a thought.

What are you talking about? Where did Bregs come from? Or Hal’s B.A. for that matter? OP said something that wasn’t true. That’s all I cared to respond about.

Do you not know how to use the quote function on here?
Or is it because you like to insinuate things & you can’t do that if you post what was actually said?

quote:

Mainieri: CJ Willis will be a first baseball, left fielder or DH. Mainieri says the biggest thing for him is to “kick it into another gear” in terms of energy and love for the game. “He needs to be passionate and obsessed with the game and see that potential come to fruition.”

I didn't see a damn thing to get excited about with him whatsoever.

I can understand this if you don’t follow baseball closely.

From his bio

quote:

has the potential to become a very athletic player behind the plate at catcher … can also play both corner infield positions, as well as both corner outfield positions.

Selected in the 39th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays … rated No. 60 among the nation’s top players by Perfect Game … selected as First-Team All-Louisiana by USA Today … earned All-America, All-State and All-District honors during his high school career … a two-time Region Player of The Year and a four-time first team all-Region selection … voted 2018 Team MVP his senior year, as he batted .375 with three doubles, four triples, four homers, 28 runs, 22 RBI, 11 stolen bases and a .531 on-base percentage … career stats at Ruston High School: .338 batting average, 23 doubles, 11 triples, 12 homers, 86 RBI and 21 steals in 23 attempts.

Willis was one of the players I was most excited to see, I was disappointed he didn’t get more playing time this season, but with more consistent at bats I think he will be huge for LSU.

Yes. I remain optimistic about Willis. He had some good hits, and he looks like he's just floating when he runs the bases.

Well I know not to pay attention to any more of your posts going forward.

I don't know what about his .212 BA and 24 strikeouts in 52 ABs appeals to you, but you should spend more time paying attention to the games.

If he can throw, why wouldn’t he be competing at catcher for some time there? If he’s better defensively than Saul, we can use Garza at DH still.

See my post above

For a freshman that didn’t have consistent playing time I think he did decent

Only 2 players had lower at bats, Dugas & Doughty

Because there is going to be a logjam at catcher next year and the team will be better suited with Willis at a different position.

It’s gonna be Garza or Milazzo catching next year

What about Travinsky?

Here we go. CPM will force out one of the most talented guys on the team.

If we assume that Willis actually does need to improve his work ethic, etc., what would be your approach? Just let him act however he wants and play him anyway (also assuming that his production was that of one of the most talented guys on the team unlike this season)?

I know that, but he was expected a year ago to compete there. Although Garza improved a lot, defensive production from our catchers was awful this year. Travinski will compete there for sure. I just don’t understand why Willis could not compete there.

What’s the word on 3b?

CPM needs to enter his name into the transfer portal.

Was he though?

He’s been talked about as a 1b or corner outfielder since he’s arrived on campus from what I remember.

I mean sure rantards have been claiming he should catch even with an injured shoulder but from the coaches I don’t remember.

I’m no CPM fan but in this case he’s right. Willis should have been way better than he was this year. I’m being generous in saying he was average this year.
