What is the rant's real opinion on why CPM seems to hate on Tyler Moore?
.

It's not just Tyler Moore. I had the privilege of talking to a former player not long ago and he didn't have many good things to say about CPM. He did this guy the same way he did Tyler Moore. Also said that the players do talk about him rolling them under the bus to the media.

And you could find just as many players that have good things to say about him too. If everyone that plays for him hates him so much, it's amazing he still gets good players to come here.

Exactly. Mikie Mahtook is one example.

Coleman ended up liking him too. Some people respond well to Coach's style and some don't. I heard Coleman speak at a banquet after the 2009 season and he said he hated Coach for the way he was treated, but eventually it motivated him to be the pitcher he was.

Could also be that he hit .260 as a freshman and .280 last year

Of course we see the stats, but what many of us feel is that he would have had better numbers had he been given the chance to start for extended periods. Again, this is just our opinion and there is no way to know.

You mean a true freshman who started on a championship team liked the coach more than someone who felt he didnt receive enough playing time?

Mahtook was an exceptional talent, which is evident by how he is playing in Durham right now. Why wouldn't Mahtook like him? Hell he started every game his whole playing career at LSU. If he would have treated him like Moore and some of the others and said shitty statements about him to the media, i can promise you he wouldn't feel that way. And to add to that, if he wouldn't have played Mahtook half the time, the fans would have been on CPM's arse and you know it.

Mahtook deserved to play everyday. Moore has not over the course of his career. Pretty simple.

Eta: please quote the "shitty statements" Paul Mainieri has made to the media about LSU players.

Are you saying Moore and Mahtook have the same baseball ability? It sure sounds like that's what you're implying. "Since PM started Mahtook almost all of his career at LSU he should have started Moore his entire career, too."

I remember reading a quote by one of Vince Lombardi's black players who was asked if Lombardi ever treated his black players differently from the way he treated his white players.

He said, "Naw, man, he treated us all the same...........like shite."

Casey Stengal once said something to the effect of on every team there are those that like you and those that don't. The trick to being a good manager is getting the new players to hang around with those that do like you.

agreed. there are always players on every team who dislike the coach. happens at every level in sports. coaches also tend to have favorites, and there are always those players that kiss the coach's arse and maybe be get treated differently than others who don't. that happens in the professional world too outside of sports. however, CPM's success speaks for itself. he's had great success everywhere he's been. You don't win 1200+ games as a coach, make the tournament 15 of the last 19 years, the CWS 4 times, 6 conference titles, and 10 conference tournament titles and not know what you're doing. there will never be a time when everyone on the team is happy with you. it's just human nature.

I put Schimpf, Blake Dean, and Moore all in the same category. They didn't have a defined place in the field, but Schimpf and Dean were more consistent and better at the plate.

I liken this year's lineups to 2009's. In both seasons LSU had 11 or 12 guys who had 100 or more at bats. Mainieri used a lot of match up/whos hot lineups that season as well.

Moore will have his chance next season to lock down 1st base much like Dean did in his senior year.
