Could the 3-3-5 work as a base at LSU?

With the speed LSU constantly fields, it seems like it could work.
It just seemed like the defense was everywhere Monday.
It would prolly work against most teams, but Alabama might be able to exploit the lack of size.
Thoughts?

Not on running downs.
ETA: correct me if I'm wrong but we don't have a typical Dave Aranda 3-4 type defense or a Ed O. 4-3 attacking style defense, we have a Matt House defense that adjust his personnel to what the offense is showing. Sometimes it looks like a 4-3, sometimes a 3-4, sometimes a 3-3 or a 3-2...whatever it takes. The point is I don't believe we have to think in terms of 3-4 or 4-3 for defenses anymore. Defensive alignments are much more diverse now.

TCU shut down Michigan running with 3-3-5

Maason Smith on one side, Wingo on the other, with Jordan Jefferson in the middle.
It would be tough running against that!

I don't think we have the LBs to run a 3-3-5. We are going bigger on our 3 down linemen, but will keep a jack.

Not running the ball. 185 running, 350 passimg

So that's like a 3.1-2-5 defense.

They were down but the team averaged 4.7 a carry and Edward averaged 5.2 on 23 Carrie’s.

What was Lou Tepper's Defense?

I heard Matt's gonna run the 5-5-5 "Full House" defense. It's impossible to score against it.

They didn’t shut them down, they won the game!

House is doing fine with a multiple defense. Purdue game proves that he will scheme for his players, not push them into a specific scheme that he won't change up.

He used the famous Drop Linebacker, aka the guy who left you uncovered and hoped you'd drop the ball.

The point remains that Michigan scored 45 points (including 3 rushing TDs) with 528 yards of total offense.
Saying TCU’s 3-3-5 “shut down their running game” because they only rushed for 186 yards feels a little silly in that context.

Go watch the A&M game and imagine if we ran a 3-3-5

This - against most teams base offense. It’s why you don’t see it…
