Probably not, I remember in 2014 in a 10-10 game with just over a minute left and TJ Yeldon fumbled at the Bama 7 and Kendall Beckwith dove on it he might’ve had a chance to scoop and score and probably win the game. Instead we settled for a field goal after Bama called 3 straight timeouts, kicked the ball out of bounds on the insuing kickoff, 3rd and Chavis happened and Bama got into FG range tied it and we lost in OT.

I saw some ESPN commentators mentioning that Tua was gonna score a TD had he not dropped the ball. At best, he may get to the three and they kick the fg. He wasn’t beating 5 defenders.

No...momentum was carrying him away from doing that and first priority is to gain possession...
Too many times I’ve seen players try to “make a big play” when attempting to recover a fumble only to fail to gain possession and the team that fumbled it get it back...
He did the right thing in falling on the ball and recovering the fumble...

Yes, I believe he made the best decision to fall on the ball. And as noted, Burrow led the team on a long scoring drive right after that.
That early in the game, make sure you get possession of the ball for your team.
Plus how many times have you seen a player try to scoop up the ball hoping to return it, but then not field it cleanly and the team fumbling the ball recovers it?

Lol who cares. That next drive right down the field ending with the Chase TD catch was epic.

Is this Bama’s version of Trindon playing DE?
