LSU may need help after all to get a 1 seed... even if they do win out and go 27-4 (17-1) and win the SECt. The bracket matrix is a great resource because it is a composite of 119 different brackets. Some of these bracket sites are pretty interesting and all 119 of them are linked at bracketmatrix.com.

Anyway a majority of the brackets were updated as of yesterday and just like the AP poll they have us at #13 in the country (the 1st #4 seed).

They have Tenn and Kentucky at #4 and #5 just like in the AP poll as well and landing the last #1 seed and first #2 seed. Now if we did win out Im confident we'd jump them but we'd still need some help from the other 2 seeds and Houston.

Those teams although maybe not as hot as LSU have had great seasons too and unless they drop some games, LSU wont jump them.

Crazy to me that a bracket projection still has LSU at a 6 seed... I can see a 5 for sure, but consensus right now is low 3/high 4, a 6 for an 11-1 team with road wins over UK and MSU is absurd

Yes that 6 is definitely an outlier. Think there was only 1 bracket that had us at 6. Only 2 of the 119 have us at a 2 seed as of now though so we obviously still have work to do but I expect if we go 2-0 this week that we'd move up to #9-10 in the projections and be on the cusp of a 2 seed and have a high 3 seed.

You also have to take into account that MOST of the bracket projectors on the list are just bozos like you and me with a blog. Not all necessarily make their picks with sound underlying reasoning. Nonetheless, the sheer volume of brackets likely weeds out much of the stupidity and gets you a good consensus.

With the loss to UK, Tenn. is the most vulnerable to dropping off the #1 line. A loss to LSU will knock them to a #2 and likely stick UK on the #1 line (which kind of helps LSU's cause). UNC still has two games with Duke. Mich and Mich St. will play each other twice. Houston and Nevada and no room to lose again due to their weak conferences.

In LSU's favor is that they have 4 more chances to get good/really good wins. UF 2x, Bama, Tenn.

A LOT can happen in the next 3 weeks. It's unlikely LSU gets a #1 but far from implausible

Nothing came of that audio. That may have been the best thing to ever happen to Wade. He's gonna be more careful now.
I love what Will Wade has done, but here's a hypothetical:

If the guy on the tape wasn't Will Wade, but instead was John Calipari, would you also brush it off and say it's the best thing to happen to Cal, he's gonna be more careful now?

Or would you be crucifying him?

Please be honest.

I'm not big on conspiracy theories, but will admit that historically LSU seems to have gotten shafted in seeding. I think a lot of it had to do with bad blood between Dale and the selection committee.

Cal isn't really the best example because he's already been shown at other schools being dirty. Or maybe he is because he hasn't been popped at Kentucky yet. IMO all of the top programs in the big 3 sports are all cheating in one way or another. Saban did it when he was at LSU, so did Miles, so does Orgeron and Johnny Jones did and so does Will Wade. I really don't care about other schools cheating because I believe LSU is doing it as well.

you think there's carryover from Dale and the selection committee? That's quite a stretch.

Dale hasn't been our coach for over 20 years.

And the members of the selection committee serve 5-year terms, so there's been many cycles of turnover on the committee since Dale was here.

If we end up opposite of Duke, I honestly think playing for a national championship is a possibility

Its possible, but they will have to win out the regular season in my opinion and make a strong showing, if not win the SECT. I don't think we will do that but this team continues to surprise, so I won't count them out! But LSU basketball gets no respect with regard to polling or seeding. For good reason due to our awful recent past record. It will take a good while of consistant winning to overcome it. But even back in the day when we had some good runs we always got lower seeds than I think we should have.

Won’t happen this year nomatter what we do. If we’d win out and win the SEC tourney we’d definitely deserve it but the powers that be will never let that happen. If that scenario played out the 4 number 1s would be Duke, Virginia, Gonzaga and the big 10 champ
I doubt that.

Tennessee is still in line to get one, and Kentucky's name is now being tossed around some for one. That means there's some interest in the SEC.
Neither Tenn nor UK are going to collapse, they're both going to finish high. If you have that case, and another SEC team (LSU) win both the regular season and tourney, something like 30-4 or so, then LSU is absolutely going to be a #1 before Virginia.

It’s hard to believe how fast Wade has turned the program around. Just another example of how critical coaching is.

you need coaching, recruitment and LUCK also on your side.

but great job so far.

NOPE !
I do think "visuals" play a big part.
We seem scattered at times and while winning have not had a DOMINANT game.

The committee likes DOMINANCE either by a team or a BIG man
