Could Coach O ever be the head coach at LSU?

Lets say LSU goes on a USC 02-06 type run and Miles retires and O takes over. Would you be happy with that.

Ask any Ole Miss fan what his thoughts are on this.

let's see how he does as OL coach first and then we can talk

He was too young and coaching a dumpster fire. He did a good job as interim at USC.

Better yet, ask any USC Trojan fan what his thoughts are on this. Many believed he had at least earned a shot at an interview after how he picked the team up post Kiffin.
The Trojans were 6–2 under Orgeron, finishing the regular season with a 9–4 record, after starting the season 3-2 under Kiffin.

After his experience at the Ole Miss, Orgeron decided to approach his second stint as a head coach differently. Instead of resuming the intense aggressiveness he had used as a defensive line and head coach, he used a different approach this time. Orgeron applied behavioral techniques he had used on his own teenage children, in an effort to approach his USC players "like my sons"
I'd say he learned his lesson, and moved on.

Yes. I see him as our next DC before our next HC. If he wants to HC I see hi goin smaller school unless he ends up a DC at a power 5. What about Raymond??

I think he becomes a DC at LSU in the next two years.

It's going to be either him or Frank and it will be the 2017 season.
Opinion, yes.

I would have some strong reservations after watching him at Ole Miss. He made a lot of mistakes. Unless he can prove he can be a successful head coach, not just an interim, at another school first, I would not be willing to take the chance. Being a head coach is an entirely different proposition from being a position coach or even a coordinator. Success as an assistant does not necessarily mean success as a head coach.

Literally no chance of this happening. Miles will be here at least until 2020.

Clearly, no. You don't hire a guy that was unsuccessful as a head coach when you have the option to hire a guy that is successful as a head coach.

O needs to show that he's more than just an emotional position coach
ripping his shirt off and yelling gibberish isn't going to cut it when you're the face of a major program
that said...he is a great positions coach

Hopefully he will be DC if Steele shits the bed and go from there.

This is correct. Position coach, coordinator, and head coach are all VERY different and require a different temperament and skill set.
Most recent example is Will Muschamp. Very good DC, awful head coach.
Also, Coach O hasn't coached a single game here - let's wait until we see some results. Yes, great recruiter but it's got to happen on the field.

Seems that he's passed the O that rips his shirt off. So far he's pfcoirse had the same intense personality but seems to keep it together better. He did a great job in his short stent at USC so idt it's out of the question. I would love to see it all play out and have a coonass at the helm!

that was 10 years ago. He did alright turning USC's season around after Kiffin was booted. Believe it or not, sometimes coaches need time to grow. He clearly wasn't ready when he was hired at Ole Miss, but that doesn't necessarily mean he could never be able to be a successful head coach.

Brandon Harris will never be a good QB. Did you see that Auburn game!?

He's the closest we got so lets run with it. Put Miles in the press box with coloring books.
