I don’t want to get overhyped fellas but I’m feeling pretty positive after our running game HUMILIATED the Gators! It feels like we finally told our road grader OL like Ingram, Bradford, Martinez, Deculus, Wire, and Dellinger to just do what they are very well equipped to do (move downhill and push dudes out of the way). Mashburn blowing dudes up in the hole has been a breath of fresh air. TDP getting some momentum before having to evade a tackler is how he is built to break tackles.

Also if this was that simple of a change, WHY DID IT TAKE 6 GAMES TO CHANGE IT?!?!

Because we ran more than inside zone. If counter Trey was that successful just imagine implementing power.

This revamped rushing attack is going be the catalyst for winning in Tuscaloosa in a couple of weeks, not just in Oxford tomorrow.

Part of it is we have had zero tape of the last few years running anything but zone. Teams will prepare for it moving forward. You’re not completely wrong.

Gotcha. Though it does seem like we have the personnel to continue to be successful. All the OL guys I mentioned were all relatively highly recruited and all are upperclassman with the exception of Dellinger.

Because other Defensive Coordinators are not as stupid as Grantham.

Well I’m not saying it’s a fluke.... but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out how to stop one running play.

Ed O called Steve Ensminger.

"Yo.. Steve! Do you remember what we did way back in 2016 to the running game, I gotta do that again.."

We ran more plays that fit our OL ability than before.

We ran for 147 against Kentucky's very good DL and they allow 119 ypg on the ground.

We ran for 321 on UF and they only average 140 ypg.

Also, TDP seems to have a fire lit under his arse. Hester has talked about how there was about to be a switch made and TDP knew it. He is running harder(not that he wasn't already). He ran over Deculus on one play.

why would anyone care about convincing a complete stranger of anything, especially when told to do so?

What makes it not flukey was that our staff actually recognized a weakness based on personnel or a numbers advantage based on how they lined up to our formations. We weren't "running the ball just to say we ran the ball" to keep the defense honest. It was with a purpose and attacked the opponents weakness.

I don't care if you're running Inside Zone, Outside Zone, Stretch Plays, Counters, Traps, Powers, etc. You can use formations and break tendencies in order to get a numbers advantage to the play side which is what we did last week.

Now, did we luck into it and just kept what was working? Or did the staff show a commitment in the week of preparation to exploiting them in the run game? That is what remains to be seen. I'm optimistic it's the latter.

Because we have a as a head coach. Total fricking retard.

287 yards is not a fluke. It's not going to be the norm or anything but, you don't just run 287 without being capable of at least running the ball.

Understood. I was just going off of what Blackledge was saying. He was implying IMO that LSU was running relatively traditional power stuff and UF just couldn’t stop it.

It’s not a fluke because we didn’t use gimmick plays or even really eye candy misdirection to do it. We just executed fairly elementary blocking strategies to damn near perfection.
