can anyone define this?
what does that mean?
I would guess he is thinking like brees manning brady etc.
pro style QBs are drop back in the pocket and pick a D apart
dual threat are throw some run some.

Two words, Cam Cameron. That's why it won't be a repeat of the JJ days.

He is right that everyone should temper their expectations when it comes to LSU's passing game this year. LSU had an experinced QB and experienced WRs. To expect anything CLOSE to last season is ridiculous.
However, there is no reason that Harris and/or Jennings cannot be just as "successful" as Mett. In fact, our two current QBs can lead an even more potent offense before they graduate. I don't expect it this year, but it won't be because of their "style" of play.
Agreed...but I feel that we have way too much optimism about this team this year. LSU doesnt have a great history of performing well with young, inexperienced QBs. If we win more than 9 games this year it will be a successful year.

in the Les Miles era (2005-2014) he's started a redshirt freshman 8 times, and a true freshman twice.
and that was in 2008 when perrilloux got booted and LSU still had the OC joke known as Gary Crowton around.
Times are different. Players are different. OC is much much different.

If Cameron prefers "pro style" QBs and/or a "pro style" offense, why is he recruiting and signing dual threat QBs? Does Cameron not know his offense or what his QB recruts can do?
Cam recruited several on this list but none chose to come...maybe the current QBs are what we settled for and not necessarily wanted to build the team around?

I wish I could share your optimism. We can revisit this after the first few SEC games. Heck, we may even lose the first game. LoL. Doubtful, but it wouldnt surprise me.

I have a lot of faith in cam cameron. look at how he turned around mettenberger...
stark difference from 2012 to 2013 in him.
what changed? the teacher

I have faith in CC's abilities too...but the student has to be able to learn the material in order for the teacher to be successful.

i think cam made a dramatic difference in the offensive philosophy. I think people will be surprised how much LSU does throw in 2014

Throws vs completions (to our team)...there's a difference.

Definitely. No one in their right mind is expecting production through the air like we did last year, but I think Cam will be able to put together a more than capable offense with our personnel. There will definitely be growing pains in the passing game, that's just inevitable.
But I really, really like this core of young offensive players going forward. Tons of talent, potential and work ethic.

He accepted a commitment from ONE dual threat QB in 2015.
But probably most telling, for 2016, he has already accepted the commitment of ONE dual threat QB, Feleipe Franks. And Rivals lists Shea Patterson as a dual threat QB.
I think Cam knows what he wants, and I think he is getting it.

There is not Gary Crowton's "Oh shite its 3rd and 15 ummm...QB draw" offense
Posted on 8/8/14 at 12:30 pm to Chimlim
Reports of lots of read option in practice with motion and the qb keepin it and throwing. This offense is going to be fun to watch...
Posted on 8/8/14 at 4:42 pm to DBU
I think you guys are misrepresenting his comments. But an offensive mind like Cam has the ability to form a successful offense with either type of QB. He is a "build around the QB" type OC. With athletes that can play the position, he can open up his playbook. Whether that happens in 2014 remains to be seen...
