Why do you need this qualifier? Obvious narrative is obvious.

Because literally half of this thread is accusing the OP of racism just for comparing JJ to two other QBs.

Sorry you think that. I'm sure some poor sap said the same thing about JJ or JL when they came in. Temper your expectations. We had a good passing offense last season with a true NFL style QB at the helm and two NFL caliber receivers catching for him. They are both gone. To expect anything CLOSE to that is ridiculous.

You're not excited about Harris' arm? I know how to temper my expectations, but the dude has tons of upside. Both of our QBs do. That's what I'm referring to.

And obviously we won't be as prolific through the air next year. I'm not expecting a 3,500 yard passer and 2 1,000 yard receivers. But we have an excellent offensive mind in Cameron who has proven to have the ability to mold his offense to his personnel the best way he sees fit. We also have one of the best OL's in the SEC and the country and a stable of backs.

His arm strength yes. But the passing I've seen from him both in HS tape and scrimmages/practice shows that he is wildly inconsistent and inaccurate. He is not ready to start unless Cameron can teach him to be pinpoint accurate in 3 weeks.

I'm excited about our offense as a WHOLE... Particularly our rushing offense: we have multiple very talented backs plus, like you said, a great OL. But in the passing game we will we breaking in both young WRs AND young QBs... Bad combo.

I wish the team would push more to recruit elite pocket passers. Our QB play was the best we've had in a while (arguably better than JR) last season and it was with a pure pocket passer. We need to get away from trying to have a dual threat guy all the time. Not Cameron's forte IMO.

This is such a narrow-sighted way of looking at it.

"Our last pocket passer was good and our last athletic QB sucked so we should always get pocket passers!"

Cameron is the one recruiting these guys. What makes you think it isn't his forte?

Yeah, if only Cameron had a history of producing an amazing dual threat QB. Someone who could throw for 40 touchdowns and rush for 40 touchdowns.

If Cameron had done that, I'd say that Maybe a dual threat QB is Cameron's forte.

If only Cameron had done something like that in his coaching career.

Cameron runs a pro style offense. Pro style offense features a pocket passer.

Just, no.

There isn't a specific "Cameron" offense. And having an athletic QB doesn't automatically make the offense not "pro-style".

Also - Ever heard of Antwan Randle-El? You know, one of, if not THE most prolific offensive players in Big 10 history?

Hey . . . wait . . . I think I've heard of him.

Wasn't he the first player in NCAA history to score like . . . I don't know . . . maybe 40 passing touchdowns and 40 rushing touchdowns?!?!

I'm just spitballing here. I could be wrong.

That would be really cool if Cameron knew Randle El. Do you think Cameron could call Randle El and find out how he did such amazing things?

Better yet, maybe Cameron could call Randle El's coach and find out how he did it!!
