He just seems like a walking excuse to me (to be fair I don't follow the baseball stuff super closely but enough to form an opinion)
He's quick to point out player deficiencies, while taking blame for none of his flaws.
This is true and I understand why that bothers people. I just don't pay attention to press conferences, quotes, etc. so I guess I just don't really care about any of that noise.
I'm all about results. Going to Omaha 4/8 years is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but flat out choking two years in a row in the biggest spot of the year is not great. He needs to learn to get out of his own way on some of these pitching moves or relinquish pitching moves/decisions to Dunn. If he does, I don't give a shite how much he trashes players in the media.

Yep, I don't even engage people who still defend the cretin. If they can't see him for what he is by now, they never will. Probably the same crowd that gets their testes in a knot when they think about if Saban had stayed and how grand things would have been.
Give me some examples of why he's a piece of shite, besides press conferences.
If you do, who knows, we might all agree with you. But until then, you sound like an idiot talking out of his arse.

I agree with all of this.
Doesn't make him a piece of shite scumbag cretin like ManBear says. I'm just sitting here waiting for examples of that.

Are we still paying that Van Chancellor guy who torpedoed the women's program? Not that I really care but it just sucks that dude gets paid so well to be horrible.

From the day he "stepped down"

Chancellor, 68, will serve the next 14 months of his coaching contract as a "special assistant to the athletic director," representing LSU in matters such as fundraising and community service.

I gave you an upvote for this statement.

There are a lot of piece of shite coaches in college baseball. Guys that don't give a shite about their players and have no problem risking their players careers. Mainieri isn't one of them. He seems like kind of a douche, but he isn't paid to be charming. He's done a good job as coach, gets to Omaha on the regular, and has helped guys get to the show. I don't always agree with his decisions, but unknown for a fact I couldn't do any better, and I don't have confidence that we could find a better coach than him on the market.

Ya let's give the guy who rotated 9 pitchers in one game and singlehandedly lost the tournament for us last year. This guy is a total moron and you don't extend coaches on this iq level. So stupid wtf.

This is GREAT news for LSU fans. I wish we could lock Beth Torina in for 10 more seasons. I am pretty level headed with LSU athletics, but there is no doubt in my mind she will win multiple national championships at LSU. She is the hottest young name in the sport, and with the Florida coach being so young, I don't see her leaving for many years.
Julia and Michael Sell will do big things for LSU women's tennis too. LSU Sell has already led the program to its best season in 20 years in year three. Her husband coaches Isner, which will make for one hell of a recruiting pitch. the new tennis facility will be monumental too.
Weinsted's raise: much deserved for obvious reasons. We're lucky to have him.
I have my complaints about Maineri. I just don't like his "woe is me" bs about Vanderbilt and TCU having such competitive advantages. This is fricking LSU, plenty of top tier coaches would kill for his spot. Still LSU has been the most consistent program the last 4 years, so I don't have a problem with the extension. Just make sure Dunn is here to stay

It hasn't what?
eta: lock in dunn? I hope that's the next raise, given he's an alabama alum and their coach on the hot seat. I've heard is family likes Baton Rouge a lot though

Hope we can keep coach Andy. I'd rather him in the future to replace coach Paul.

I wouldn't complain if Mainieri was replaced by someone widely considered to be an upgrade. I wouldn't want him fired unless someone better was already lined up to take over.

Very happy to see Coach Torina paid in the neighborhood of other SEC coaches who have taken multiple teams to the WCWS. Congrats Beth and keep it up!!

Yeah, she and Weinsted were the two obvious coaches in need of a much deserved raise. I think they're the two best coaches at LSU right now

It would be a public relations nightmare to fire maineri or even consider him on the hotseat right now. It's like OU fans firing Bob Stoops for a recent slump. They both deserve fair criticism, but you don't just fire the guys
I think Maineri puts in 3-5 more seasons, then hopefully Mcdonnell from Louisville still won't have been poached by then

A few former players don't like him very much either. Not gonna say who
