I came to my cousins place just south of NRG to watch the games today and so far so good

I know it's coming, but it's crazy how lucky this area has been thus far. I think we caught that entire cut between bands.

Truly hope game is played in Houston next Saturday. Unless it is guaranteed on Monday that game can be played in Houston, another site should be considered.

Half of the city is under water? Link?

Lol parts of the city have had 9" today, and this isn't moving out tonight. They're expecting Buffalo Bayou to crest at record flood stage...the same one that flooded all of Houston during Allison in 2001.
I'm not saying it's gonna be cancelled/postponed/moved, etc. But to just claim it isn't possible is crazy. Many here said the EXACT same thing last year prior to the Florida game. And anyone that suggested the possibility was ridiculed to hell and back.
Do y'all ever learn?

TX has invested heavily in infrastructure over the years. Yes has great potential to be a huge flooding event. But it's not some Mickey mouse operation.

Tax day 2016 says otherwise. I had to drive thru that ocean on my way to San Antonio. Looked a lot like BR last August

I laugh at the people on here who say "No Worry, we dont have problems here." I work for an industrial company that subscribes to a Storm Tracker service and I get updates on this and every other storm in the Atlantic and Gulf every 2-4 hrs. Houston is in the 40" cumulative rain belt from this storm for the next 3-4 days. I dont know any city that has contingency plans for that if it should happen.

I dont think they will see that much but this is the craziest storm track I have ever seen.

Geaux Tigers and I would not sell my tickets or cancel my reservations just yet. I think we will play ball

The are a bunch of rivers/bayous/tributaries in general in and around Houston. I mean, it's called the bayou city, so...
North of Houston has been inundated pretty good so far just today, with a couple more days to go.
Rivers...rise, most predicted to rise above flood stage, some at record levels.
Meanwhile, although the hurricane didn't directly landfall there, the east side of the center (Houston, Galveston, etc...) has and will continue to have onshore flow, all while rivers and bayous are trying to drain the rain fall.
Doesn't work, city is definitely capable of extreme flooding event.

And again, nobody knows if it will without question. But it's fair to ask about contigency plans in the event it DOES happen, considering the circumstances. As well as considering our recent bad luck with this shite.

So you don't know ?

Cleveland, Magnolia, Rosenburg, many areas have received upwards of 9' today. IT JUST STARTED!

Problem is, it's storming now in CS/Bryan area as well. It all has to go south via rivers creeks bayous etc, and they're all forecast to flood. This isn't NOLA bowl effect, this is river flooding that's the threat.

Like I said, watch the damn weather. This is forecast (the rain) to end Tuesday. It started yesterday. It isn't out of the realm of possibility, or even unlikely, that the game could be affected.

Both the Astros and Texas will be playing in Houston next week. This storm won't be an issue.

I think that just the way people are saying "wait and see what happens before you jump to conclusions and cancel the game", people should wait and see what happens the next couple of days before declaring Houston didn't get hit bad. Houston hasn't gotten the worst part yet and no one knows how bad it will be, but some flooding is certainly possible. We should know a lot more this time tomorrow and going into Monday.

Actually, pretty sure most if not all of those rivers, creeks, bayous, etc...run thru or around Houston and are forecast to crest in major flood stage.

It didn't even rain in Gainesville last year when we were supposed to be playing UF, but hey, let's not discuss the possibility.
