WVU down 27-7 and about to go down more and LSU shot themselves in the foot, otherwise the blowout would have been from start to finish w/o y'all ever sniffing a chance.
Evenso, LSU played prevent defense the entire second half knowing burning the clock w/ a two-score plus lead was more important.
It worked and the game ended w/ your team worn down and blown out.

Well written Mr. Mountaineer. I think your team played exceptionally well for the most part. You lose the turnover battle 4-0 and you are not going to beat many teams - if any. LSU is a very opportunistic team and the defense is legit. LSU's offense is evolving into championship caliber form and our special teams have been better than average all season and they are getting better and better as well. We'll be favored in every game we play from here on out - except possibly Bama.
Our special teams (excluding missed field goal and short kickoffs) were great last night and that was another huge factor to help us secure victory. Mr. Brad Wing (our punter) should get some sort of national recognition for his punting skills after his performance last night. That was amazing!
You are correct in that the score did not indicate the closeness of the game. The kickoff return was the turning point for sure. You were prime time ready for a major upset if that doesn't happen. I think it was number 81 on the replay that simply missed the sideline tackle coming from other side of field. Give Claiborne credit for some great moves on that return. You must admit LSU is fun to watch!
I sincerely hope as most all Tiger fans do that you guys run the table and win your respective conference. Who knows.... we may even see you again. The BCS formulas rule! Keep the faith!

Congrats guys..
Hope your boys run the table and get in a good BCS game. I pay attention to Mountaineer football because I have some WVU-graduate buds, so I'll watch any of your games that come on the tube down here in Mousetown.

Was closer than the score indicated.
Whatever you say buddy...
But, aside from that comment, great post.

Your QB is very good when he has time, and he had plenty last night LSU defensive play was good enough, but not at all what we've seen the first 3 games Good luck down the road.......Good news for you is that you don't have our remaining schedule to contend with.....
Couldn't agree more with the last part. On the contrary, you guys at least have some exciting games to look forward to - not games against UConn, Rutgers, etc.

4 TD's is a blow out chief.
I think his only point is that most fans would see the score and not guess it was a 6-point game heading into the 4th. Regardless, the scoreboard doesn't lie.
You guys are every bit as good as advertised. All Mountaineer fans had a blast last year in New Orleans and Baton Rouge and are rooting for you guys to beat up on the SEC foes as well. Best of luck fellas.

We gave up only 366 yards, and about 80 of that was in the 4th with the game decided.
I agree with most of what you said. But this statement is bad logic.
Once the game was decided you should have been able to completely shut us down. You were still p laying starters adn you knew taht we were going to run on almost every play. SO just like everyone else would do, WV stacked 8-10 in the box and we still got 80 yards and ran clock.
Most of the time when we do that we go 3 adn out and simply rely on our D to hold on till the end.

Maybe - just maybe, and I am going out on a limb here, they would look at the first quarter 13-0 lead and then the first half 27-7 lead and then for a brief time of 2 mins (DURING COMMERCIAL BREAK) when WVU was within 6
Sorry , I think you actually believe that the 6 point differential existed throughout the game and then the thingamacallit came from the whatchamacallit in the sky and the transmogrification of the universal black hole constant on the light travel from the spacial metrics SUDDENLY caused the final score to be 47-21

Thanks, and your fans are hands down the coolest I've ever encountered. Good luck the rest of the way, and I can't wait to get back to Morgantow (no bus next time, though!)
But y'all did a great job of making plays in space. It was just that with our offense working and our punting game killing it, y'all just had too far to go without making any mistakes. And the thing our defense is best at is making teams pay for mistakes.
Again, loved your fans, they were all great. I'd love to see you guys in another home/home soon. Good luck the rest of the year!

quote:Honestly, I think it's because we'd rather have the picks. Y'all were running almost all quick passes, so it would have been difficult to get to Smith before he got rid of it anyway, and we were confident we'd get some of those passes with the coverage (I actually think we expected to pull down a couple more than we did).
Why did you guys not blitz more?

For WV to win, it would've taken an almost perfect, mistake-free effort from the offense, a handful of big plays from your defense and a little bit of luck. This is the way things are when you play a much more talented team and you're trying to spring the upset. WV played hard and they played well, but not nearly well enough as there was little or no room for error in this game. Great teams ratchet up the intensity when the game is on the line. The final score is a result of WV's inability to match the increased level of play.

I was at the game and can tell you that I have not had a better time with an opponent. You guys (almost 90% of you) were classy, honest, giving, caring. I was blown away with the hospitality and will be back to Tygart Lake State Park for some hiking and kayaking in the summer.
Good luck to your program, you have some great times ahead.
