It is just another opportunity for someone else to show their talent.... RS has not really won a bunch of games for us.... I look forward to seeing some of the other guys shine... Lets get ready for some football....

May get to be a shorter list of players who will be eligible rather than those who are not by the time all the shite is sorted through. This is the dribbling shits!

for those who don't know

Brett Martell of the AP is reporting the suspension is related to the Willie Lyles case

LINK

quote:

A person familiar with the situation says the inquiry involves the NCAA's probe of LSU's relationship with scouting service owner and purported street agent Willie Lyles. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because LSU has not said what the inquiry entailed.

Shep has 38 career catches for a paltry 7.5 ypc.

He has been a WR for 1 year.

You really think it is that huge of a loss? Especially a guy that we were misusing anyway?

yes, huge loss. A guy that was running as our #1 slot guy, who has big play ability through the air or on the ground.

Players get better. He is still only a JR.

we were already thin at WR before his suspension, now we are left with 1 veteran WR

It doesn't change the fact that he was bad. Did not catch the ball well and did not make much of anything happen when he did catch the ball.

We have a lot of guys with big play ability on the ground. Shep has hardly been a big play guy in the passing game.

Not always.

Wright and Boone have almost as much experience practicing with the team at WR as Shep does. They are also more natural WRs than Shep is. We have other talented WRs on the team and how well they perform is much more dependant on the QB play.

OK - I'm jumping in here. I have not gone through the entire thread so if I am a bit repetitive, please forgive.

Kid moves in with his high school girlfriend off campus - RS gets off campus housing allowance - Compliance realizes the lady is splitting rent or lease in her name.

RS agrees to pay back difference - chilled out with teammates over an icb, talk about what's happening - suspended for what?!!

Give me a break. Course this is the same rulebook that dictates what type of toppings can be offered on student athlete bagels!

RS taking one for the team. Better to sit one or two then have a Probation Team play a potentially ineligible player.

So ready for this soap opera to end & the season begin.

yeah obviously

AP is reporting Shep suspension related to Willie Lyles investigation. Spoke with a teammate about his testimony

could be 4 games or could be horrible and way beyond RS

What is this referring to?

You think Shep being sat for four games is a precursor to Sanctions against the team? That doesn't make sense to me but okay.

ap article stating suspension is related to Lyles investigation.

RS suspended for discussing his testimony with a teammate

Y #1 does he do that? How does the NCAA find out he spoke with a teammate? What teammate was it?

and how much more does that make the NCAA look around?

not "claiming" I know a thing. Looking at things from all points. Could be nothing but 4 games. Could be more

Terrible News.

I would agree if he ever got more than an average of 1 or 2 touches a game. He's underutilized as it is, now he won't be utilized at all.

so playing QB all your life and RB then switching to WR on a whim isnt a good excuse for having an average first year at the position?

lol

Yet you trust in a bunch of Freshman and sophmore who have caught 6 passes between them?

quote:

We have a lot of guys with big play ability on the ground. Shep has hardly been a big play guy in the passing game.

We don't have any player that can stretch the defense on the ground horizontally like Shep can.

You give an athlete like Shep the benefit of the doubt. He was poised to have a nice year regardless of how crappy you think he is(which is laughable))

cant replace practicing with the 1st team in practice, playing in actual games, etc.

Most WR's at LSU do not flourish until year 3, so it is asking a lot to expect much from theses guys. Especially in the 1st game....a huge game.

I guess we can discuss it after the game. No point in arguing about it now. Pretty stupid to downplay it though

Can you update the OP with this factoid from The Advocate's blog post:

quote:

LSU said Shepard has been found by the NCAA and the school to be in violation of Bylaw 32.1.4. It was determined that Shepard discussed an NCAA inquiry with a teammate who was scheduled to meet with an NCAA representative and his actions were deemed to have violated NCAA protocol.
