I've got to say, with USC going down this weekend and Alabama and LSU sitting at 1-2, I am growing more and more concerned with our visit to The Swamp on October 6. The Gators impressed me this weekend and are starting to have that "Nobody believes in us" look in their eyes.

The Tigers have not been tested by a quality opponent yet this season, but the Gators will give us that test, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Does anyone else have a heightened awareness of this game now that USC lost, given that both LSU and Alabama will have to run the table the next six weeks to ensure a 1-2 matchup?

Does not compute! USC's loss and our ranking should have nothing to do with it. Fla's road wins vs. 2 respectable SEC foes have a lot more to do with it. Fortunately, Mett will have one road game in a hostile environment under his belt before them. I'd worry about Auburn before Fla. It's the SEC--anything can happen

I don't think anyone assumed going into the swamp was going to be the same as playing NT at home, but I think any rational college football fan and LSU fan understands that Florida's staring squad lines up well against everyone in the SEC. However, they don't have the 2 deep of LSU. It will be a game of attrition, but unless LSU makes mistakes, Florida won't win. Also, realize that Florida hasn't played any great defenses yet and they have still had to come from behind in their past 2 games. The best thing Florida has going for it is their coaching staff makes very good halftime adjustments.

Excellent half time adjustments so far by Florida.
What's worrisome is I think Florida has two weeks to prepare for us.... We play Towson so we should be doing a little "Florida work" for 2 weeks as well tho.... But Florida will be our toughest test to that point for sure

But before everyone starts drinking the Florida kool-aid.....they didn't look all that great at home against an average Bowling Green team.

This.

Tennessee is still Tennessee. They did not impress me. I think Florida has played good games vs. teams of their own caliber, but Florida is not in the same class as LSU/Bama.

That being said, it is a big road game, and the Tigers will need to come out swinging in order to assert dominance.

It's a game we'll have to show up for, no doubt, but Tennessee can't run the ball or stop the run and UF abused them in both.

Florida has improved. Basically same d lineup as 2011. That being said- Tennessee CANNOT run. On anybody. Haven't been able to since T. Poole. They are maybe the 4th/5th best team in the east. The swamp is always tough. I really can't say anything about anyone at this point with real conviction. Still too early. Hence, the reason polls shouldn't come out until mid-late oct. I think we will know a lot more going into that week. Our bigget concerns- O line and Mett development. We will get a lot accomplished before then. Any road SEC game is good live battle. Regardless of opponent.

Didn't Florida lose 2 of its starting Linebackers for the season?

Dude. Have you been paying attention? Our team has been decimated with academic issues, discipline issues, and injuries. We are not the same team we were a month ago. We're still very good but you don't lose eleven to fifteen players (depending on the injury status as of this writing) and not feel some effect.

Right now, I would say playing on the road, LSU and Florida are pretty close.

This makes me for some reason.

For about 3 quarters. They also lost 2 of their starting LBs. That's not very good when you're facing a team that can run the all down your throat.

I'm going to disagree a little here. Florida is rotating a LOT of players on defense. I think you saw the effect of that in the second half of Tennessee (which is something we're used to seeing as LSU fans). Yes, so far Florida has made great adjustments at halftime in back-to-back games. But they are also wearing down the opposing lines.

So what intrigues me about the Florida game is this: for the past two seasons, I have felt very good in big games if we were close at halftime, even if too close for comfort, because I knew we were wearing the other team out. Frankly, I was disappointed to see USC go down because I was hoping to see us do that to them in Miami. With Florida, I don't think that recipe will work as well. Florida is a team we're going to have to beat straight up. I think we will, but this is going to be a tough, tough game.

Ronald Powell - Out for season. Since spring.
Jelani Jenkins - Out for 1 month from A&M, broken thumb. Could be questionable for LSU.

UF will be difficult, only because it's at UF. They beat a bad Tenn squad. No biggie.

vs both SEC teams Florida has played poorly in the first half and made adjustments. The difference between Tenn and aTM vs LSU is that LSU will capitalize on mistakes made by Florida in the first half. If Florida plays the way they have been first half we should be up by 14+. aTm and UT didn't capitalize on mistakes and made plenty of their own in the first half too.
