He missed a LONGER field goal last year AT Kentucky at the end of regulation that HAD THE DISTANCE !!! It just missed wide left.

And, if my memory serves me, it was rainy, windy, and cold that day too. Not a bad call at all !!!

i was in shock that les did that. it has really made me think he needs to not be allowed to call plays. I don't think any other good coach would ever make a play call that foolish

I think we got spoiled last year with all the 4th down conversions. Hell,if Les Miles played black jack last year, he could have retired on that alone. I think he enjoys the hell out of pushing the envelope. He knew the odds before the kick.

I'd take that bet any day of the week.

He doesn't even kick off for us because his leg isn't strong enough.

Last year against Kentucky he just missed a 57 yarder for the win. The kick was PLENTY long, too.

Whose the broad in the picture. Hell, when I was a kid, my dad brought back a picture of this woman from a business trip in Dallas and written on the card was "Miss you every night".

Not according to the play by play of that game:

quote:

L 4-9 K40 Colt David field goal attempt from 57 MISSED - short, spot at UK40, clock
00:00.

i think it was a horrible call,i dont care if he has the leg to do it or not anytime you put a college kicker in for a 60+ yarder it spells for a disaster. But like another poster said the playcalling and use of timeouts is what gets me

When I saw Colt going out there, I thought it was a replay or something. I couldn't fathom how anyone with any sense at all would ever try that kick.

The playcalling was fine.

They threw a short pass on first down.

On 2nd down, they rolled Jefferson out and gave him a run pass option. He needed to either run or have Lafell come back for the ball. The decision to throw it to Lafell given that he didn't come back was not a good one.

There was less than zero chance of making that kick. Not only was there a better chance of a hail mary, but at least there's a chance for a pass interference. Maybe the worst call I've ever seen.

I agree

Good luck finding someone on the team that knows how to throw it that far. Even if they reach it would probably be so far out of bounds. Then everyone would have wondered why we didnt kick.

I personally witnessed JJ throw it 57 yds. in the air at Destrehan...and it was pretty windy that night. (being by the Lake and all) He hit his WR in the endzone...perfect throw! Just sayin

Play by play is wrong. He missed it wide (barely). He actually kicked the crap out of it and it was about halfway up the goal post.

The playcalling was anything but "fine". We needed 10 yards to give us a halfway decent shot of winning that game on a field goal. 15 yards and we're practically golden. The 1st down call was okay, obviously you can't foresee the dumbass ref getting in the way. But rolling JJ out like that was stupid.

An inexperienced QB making his first start with a stable chock full of RB talent. Tell your O line that the game is all on them, and then call 3 runs

Been there done that. Failed miserably while trying to put it on their shoulders.

It wasnt a bad call. As good a chance as a hail mary. I have far bigger issues with other aspects of the game.

I was laughing at Miles decision to try and kick a 63 yrd field goal into a gusty wind...why not try a few short passes to get you 10 to 15 yards closer and have a legit shot at maybe making it instead of trying to win the lottery in one stupid long kick...Miles needs a case of focus factor to get his brain working again,,,at least a few more cells...2009 its gonna be interesting to say the least...to be continued...

If the RBs and the O-line can't get the 10 yds we needed in that situation, then we lose because we got outplayed. Get cute with the freshman QB and then hang your kicker out to dry at 63 yds is getting beat without giving your team the best opportunity to win.

Its the classic Miles failing: bad coaching decisions put us behind the 8-ball, and then he hopes for some feat of amazing talent to save our asses. See everyone of JR's gme-winning 4th quarter drives.

why not try a few short passes

Are you serious? There was what, 5 seconds left when they kicked the field goal? Jefferson killed any chance of having those short passes when he stood in the pocket for 6 seconds while there were 2 open receivers down field and he did nothing with the ball.
