Byrne was pretty money, but its hard to say he was the best. Stormare and Mortensen were damn good, too

If the RBs and the O-line can't get the 10 yds we needed in that situation, then we lose because we got outplayed. Get cute with the freshman QB and then hang your kicker out to dry at 63 yds is getting beat without giving your team the best opportunity to win.
Its the classic Miles failing: bad coaching decisions put us behind the 8-ball, and then he hopes for some feat of amazing talent to save our asses. See everyone of JR's gme-winning 4th quarter drives.

The playcalling was anything but "fine". We needed 10 yards to give us a halfway decent shot of winning that game on a field goal. 15 yards and we're practically golden. The 1st down call was okay, obviously you can't foresee the dumbass ref getting in the way. But rolling JJ out like that was stupid.
An inexperienced QB making his first start with a stable chock full of RB talent. Tell your O line that the game is all on them, and then call 3 runs

When I saw Colt going out there, I thought it was a replay or something. I couldn't fathom how anyone with any sense at all would ever try that kick.

There is a huge difference between a 60+ yard kick in TS, in warm-ups, with little wind, in good weather, without a stadium full of people screaming at you and without 11 guys trying to block the kick, and trying to hit a 63 yard kick to win the last game of the season, awat, wind blowing against you, in the cold, etc. etc. etc.

Okay, look guys, I'll spill it... After the Ole Miss game, some TAF bigwigs got together and commissioned an in depth study.
After a lot of man-hours, it was determined that Y.A. Tittle still has 1 year of eligibilty. He's enrolling in classes in the spring and will be the LSU starting quarterback for 2009.
Mark it down - you heard it here first.

But his actual in-game record is like 52 or 53 yards, right?
And yes, part of the reason I finally signed up was because I wanted to get some opinions on this and I didn't see any discussions about it.

I would honestly like to know

What was the thinking behind going for the 63 yard field goal (into the wind) on that last play. I just cannot comprehend why you would call this play. Can anyone explain it to me, please?
Is the sky falling, too?

I think saying he's not the sharpest tool in the shed is still significantly overedtimating his inteeligence.

I didn't. I thought it was a douche move.
I've never been a big Miles fan. In his first season here I had some issues with him - little things that I thought were indicative of bigger problems. His clock management skills were suspect frm the beginning, and to me there's no excuse for that. Too many times did we watch JR complete last minute game-winning drives, saving Miles from embarrasing defeats on the strength of his arm and the talent of our receivers. Yes, he has a great record and a national championship, but too may times I left a game feeling like we won in spite of Miles' coaching and not because of it.
