Worst than going for it on 4th and 23?

This. The FG was dumb, but 4th and 23 was just beyond ridiculous.

Kicking a 63 yard FG has no chance. It would have required divine intervention. We could have made it easier on the almighty by trying anything else.

Miles had to have thought it was 53 yards. That is all I can imagine. If he knew it was 63 yards in the wind he will not last.

I have never ever said anything negative about Miles before this thread.

I agree - I would have rather he send Jefferson out to take a knee to end the game than put Colt David out there to try an impossible FG.

Only chance from that shitty situation was to hope for an interference penalty on a pass downfield.

The reason for getting into that shitty situation is another topic. Worst series of the year.

If it hadn't been into the wind you could sell me on it. David has the leg, the 57 yarder he missed at Ky last year would have been good from 63 if it had been hit straight. But into the wind? Morten Andersen in his prime couldn't jave it that I don't think.

The flip over the head fake would have been a better call than that. That ball had no chance against that wind. The flags were straight out in his face.

it doesnt always have to be a hail mary into the end zone. a pass like Iowa in the Capital One Bowl could work too.

sure, anything but a 63 yarder into a stiff wind at 50ish degrees.

That is a heck of a statement, LOL, but if you allow me to couple it w/ the 'going for it on' 4th and 23 play against ole mrs, we have a deal!!!

One of the great calls and exciting plays I ever saw. Alabama-LSU 2005, last play of regulation, Alabama with the ball near mid-field and time for one play with the game tied. LSU with 3 defenders back near the goal for the hail mary. Instead of the hail mary Bama throws a flare pass out to the right to Coffee where 3 blockers have filtered out ahead of him. They head for the goal line and not stopping for shite. LSU was lucky to get Coffee down around the five yard line. Someday some coach will remember that play.
