Plus, no one is saying we should get 3 five-stars a year. However, 1 good player in 3 years is pitiful and could be grounds for dismissal.

Not to mention....5 conference wins in two years, losing to Nicholls State, and being blown out what i am sure is a record number of times in one year is plenty for most people to lose their job. For some reason this guy is getting a pass.

The way I see it, he was given a pass the day he was hired. Hate it or not, I don't think his job was in jeopardy from day 1.

I like the idea that it gave him the ability to structure for the long term and fix the attrition/academic problems. Whether or not that structure will succeed is still in question but I'd like to see 8-8 in conference next year to be happy

Alleva is the AD. White shoe boy from Duke who has no clue and rode Coach K's success to a higher pay and more prestigious job. Alleva has not done shite.

I know, but I'm referencing basketball as a whole. Look at how lsu has struggled with depth over this last decade. Bench players are just as important.

00-01 we had Ronald Dupree, TB, CT3 (granted Lamont got hurt) but we were 6 deep with Beshara, Jermaine and Bridgewater.

SEC: 2-14

Yes - you do need a bench. Look at the Miami Heat right now. 3 studs with no role players. But at least they are competitive and if they go on a streak, they can win.
We go LONG losing streaks.

This whole "ability" is like cutting off the nose to spite the face. If the team blows donkey nuts, I could care less if we make the APR goals.

Not going ot make a new thread over this, but did anyone else hear that LSU flew into Hot Springs early this week to talk to JJones?

The connected UNT fans I know that went to the conference keep bringing it up.

He sure beat the shite out of our 1.5 million a year unable to recruit head coach. Hell, we even lost to Nicholls. Part of the 6 year rebuilding program under Alleva.

So nice, you had to say it twice.

JJ is a decent coach, although he's not having that great of a year. He will never sniff the LSU job for reasons other than his coaching ability.

Any post that mentions him as a future LSU coach should be deleted ASAP.

Alleged Recruiting violations not coaching are his downfall

Tyrus wasn't nearly as highly recruited as the others. The only stars that really left the state were Augustin (Katrina) and Monroe. Monroe was a big loss. However, Georgetown is a hard school to say no to.

Other than that, LSU has had a pretty good run lately of getting the best in the state. As for out of state, Brady did pretty well there, so it's possible.

I just keep hearing excuses.

Well then let's go with the truth...the in state talent has been pretty poor lately.

I know that year Bridgewater was out the whole year or most of it. I thought CT3 was out most as well or was that the following season?

We were demolished by injuries that 2000-2001 year if my memory serves correct.

Whether you are a Trent Johnson supporter, or a John Brady supporter, in the end, the number of wins will be the truth of the coach's legacy.

I don't know anything about Mr. Collis Temple. He seems like a nice guy who loves LSU. I am sure anyone who has helped an athletic program win like Mr.Temple has some level of ego and pride like anyone of us would have in that situation. I would be appauled that Coach Johnson would allegedly burn any bridges concerning the program.

IMHO, I believe Trent is on the clock. He has two more years on his contract. He has been given plenty of rope. Lets just hope he uses it to pull very good team players into the program instead of wrapping the rope around his neck and killing any budding program. Give Trent two more years...it can't get any worse than the past two.
