Why does this sound backwards? In the business world, you would almost never see an assistant director move to an analyst role

Because this isn’t the business world and it gets him one step closer to the field

Maybe he aspires to be a coach. In the football world, the progression is different than that of the business world. Some people have to be the assistant to the assistant before they can be the assistant. Next step analyst before coaching.

I don't doubt he is a good dude...just wondering what this appointment means in the grand scheme of things

Maybe nothing but who cares. It’s cool to see a homegrown guy moving up the ladder. I’ve met him a few times and he seems like a good dude. Maybe he’ll be the OC one day down the line.

I know his dad and mom. Good people. I believe he wants to be an OC one day.

On a side note, what do these types of positions pay?

If you follow recruiting at all then yes you definitely should have heard of him. He is constantly shouted out by recruits as someone they talk to a lot, and is consistently mentioned when recruits commit here

I don't follow recruiting at all, so thanks for filling me in. I have always wondered what some of these guys do. I have no clue what an "assistant director of player personnel" does.
