College Football is dead - they all know they killed it with greed

I agree with the rules, if you decide to go pro before your years are up whether you get paid 25k or 25 million and don't make a roster you should not be allowed to come back to school and finish your years. Just like tbob said the NCAA put themselves in this predicament with the 22 class all they had to do is go back one more year and this problem don't exist. I think the rule is good for program loyalty makes the player think more about leaving

I still watch college football and very much look forward to the games but I can’t seem to keep up with the changes to the roster

I used to know every starting players name and a bit about their background. I enjoyed following recruiting. That part of it is gone for me.

College football is not dead.

It's as popular as it ever was.

Over the last five years, college football television viewing time has grown significantly. Viewership is up 33 percent from 2021.

The rumors of college football's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

In part, "they" is you...the fan (and not just LSU fans)

The fans demanded that their team compete for championship and a coaching staff that produced anything less was unacceptable and MUST be fired. So the school did so, regardless of what amount still may be owed on the coach's contract. Because the prior coach wasn't good enough to meet expectations, the school should ONLY consider hiring the very best HC in the marketplace. The pool of candidates fitting that criteria were in very high demand and very low supply. The fans don't care. Pay whatever it takes...so the schools did. If that guy didn't deliver after 2-4 years, it was time to fire him and start the process all over again. Only this time with additional market inflation since the last time.

Then the players were allowed to be paid for the use of their NIL. The best players are in the highest demand and the fans DEMANDED their school only have the best players. So the schools/boosters paid whatever it cost to get those players...a cost that continues to rise annually because the supply of the great players remains low and the demand from the fans for those great players remains high.

The "greed" is just a response to the customers (fans). As long as the demands of the customer remain sky high and the supply of people who the customer feels can meet those demands remains low the market will continue to inflate.

The only way it stops is if you, the fan, stops watching OR doesn't want to fire the HC after a 8 win season or two. Despite the empty threats in the offseason I don't see that happening any time soon.
