I agree that Curiel is more of a back half of the first round guy on pure prospect rating, but I think an org will "overdraft" him because they feel like he's safe. 3 above average tools with good makeup has a lot of value to some organizations. Especially if they feel they can sign him to a deal and spend up in rounds 2-5 on higher upside guys.
And in the first round where there are bigger marginal drop offs in draft pool money from pick to pick, someone could "overdraft" him by like 5 picks and save 650k on his bonus while still giving him like $4MM.

Typically MLB teams don’t really care too much about team wins and losses. But it does matter some.
Nope & they were on a national championship team 12 months ago

That has nothing to do with their draft position. They possibly could have skipped college and been drafted. They are not drafting a team. Only an individual. Winning is good but not what makes them an MLB prospect.

Curiel’s biggest weakness is his arm
His bat is weak too. He may develop some pop as he matures but he's a contact hitter. There are too many guys in the big leagues and minors that can play defense as well, hit for close to the same average and, most importantly, hit 25+ hrs a year. Power is at a premium in today's game, particularly for outfielders.

This guy is a rookie (23yo) starting MLB OF’er right now, and reminds me a lot of Curiel.
You can tell who doesn’t watch baseball with comments like yours. Power is at a premium but so are good players.
Steven Kwan is also a starting OF in the same division and is a consistent 3+WAR player w/ a career slugging % of .380

. Milam compares to Jose Altuve as a player
Same height yes, but Altuve at the same age was a much better athlete. He stole bases and ran the bases well. Milam isn’t that fast.

There were like 5 guys last year in the entire major leagues who played good outfield defense, hit .270+, and hit 20 homers. But I guess in your fantasy land those guys are easy to find

geez, Altuve is a such a freak for his size. Can we not compare players to HOf'ers?
Altuve was like a 60 hit / 50-55 power at 5'6". In the modern game he really is 1 of a kind.
If Milam could have a 10 yr career like Ryan Theriot, Brock Holt or Darwin Barney it would be a success.
