No LSU, but Southeastern has an at-large bid as the only team making it in from Louisiana(Southland never gets at-large bids)... Man, there are so many differnt projections aout there... I guess this one expects LSU to lose 2 out of 3 to State. Regional Projections

So they think Southeastern LA deserves at large bid with an RPI of 50 and 5 wins vs. RPI Top 50 teams and LSU doesn't with an RPI of 25 and 10 wins vs. RPI Top 50. Oh yeah, and LSU beat Southeastern in our only matchup this year.

Makes a lot of sense

one of the fastest growing universities in the country, 3rd largest in Louisiana, and isn't afraid to compete with big, bad LSU

Trust me when I say we're not worried and never will be about Southeastern in any sport.

you have to base this on a few things... first, this site is predicting that LSU will lose the series with MSU this weekend, eliminating them from the SEC tourney field of 8. Traditionally, all 8 teams that make the tourney make the NCAA. Very seldem does a 9th team make it. Arky did it a few seasons ago, but I can't recall it happening much. Moreover, SLU got screwed last season after posting 40+ wins with a low RPI. This season, they have more quality wins. Plus, the SLC has continued to improve from year to year. I think it is time to have 2 teams make it from this conference (SLU will still have to get to the SLC tourney finals for them to make it IMO).

Look, I am an LSU fan, but I also root for other Louisiana Universities success as well. I've been a LSU fan since I can remember. Southeastern is my Alumni.

This attitude is part off the reason why the LSU-Tulane rivalry has been killed. Yes, Tulane leaving the SEC is the main reason, but LSU and it's fans have not helped the cause.

We wanted the Tulane rivalry killed. It's always a lose lose to play them and when they host, especially in baseball, they love to treat LSU like shite.

We would have to get swept to be left out of the NCAA field. Our RPI is 25 right now, we take even just 1 game our RPI will stay Top 30, and they'd be very hard pressed to leave out a RPI Top 30 team out of the field, especially LSU and the fans we bring.

Actually it's becoming more and more of a normal thing. In fact the SEC could send 10 teams this year if the perfect storm happens and Alabama takes 2/3 or more vs. USC. Ole Miss takes 2/3 or more vs. Arkansas. UGA takes 2/3 or more vs. Vanderbilt...and of course we take 1/3 or more vs. MSU. They would be hard pressed to not send 10 SEC teams to the NCAAT in that case.

Just because a team doesnt make the SECT doesnt mean they shouldnt be in the field of 64. The SEC is the strongest conference in baseball and every year now has a strong argument for a team and now maybe 2 that didnt make the SECT that should be in the field of 64.

Except last season has no bearing on this season, and Southeastern still has HALF as many quality wins as LSU has. So explain to me why anyone would put Southeastern in over LSU all things considered.

The reason why it's killed is because we're tired of beating the crap of them in every sport but it being a "rivalry" still. LSU is by far and away the premier athletic university in the state and it isnt even close. We don't have a true in-state rival in athletics anymore.

This College Baseball Daily must be made up with a bunch of f------ idiots. What a joke to leave out a team that no one wants to face right now. Also to have Mikie Mahtook rated as the 21st rated player in the nation; any bettors at there!

I think, all things considered (SLU gets to the SLC tourney final v/s TX State, and I think LSU needs to take 2 of 3 do to the fact that we will be last place in the SEC West standings with just 1 win), both teams should be the field of 64.

why?
does Arkansas have a true in-state rival? Notre Dame?

why is it a problem? because you're an SLU fan?

Southeastern is a baseball program on the rise. They are doing a great job recruiting. The best thing for SLU is the fact that LSU is going after alot of national recruits and looking over alot of the local talent. Which teams like Southern Miss, Tulane, Arkansas, and SLU are picking up.
