Def need to rethink game one starter. To burn Eades on JS now makes no sense.

Exactly. Once we're 2-0 it's over. Our remaining pitching is significantly better than anyone's. LSU bats mash game 3 and when it's all over Alan Dunn has gotten another 6 hit 2 run game out of 5 pitchers.

For those who are saying start Eades on Fri, do you really think LSU's chances of losing against Jackson State without Eades is greater than LSU's chance of losing two games against ULL with Bonvillain/Newman?

I'm pretty confident in saying that the latter is a lot more likely than the former.

So we should start Newman or McCune, have them go only 4/5 innings and be forced to burn a bullpen arm?

If Eades and Nola give you what they normally give you it makes perfect sense. A 2-0 it's over.

We couldn't combine Newman and McCune? JSU honestly shouldn't be much more difficult than Southern.

Don't forget about who ULL will have pitching Sunday/Monday....they'll be on fumes at that point.

We were losing 2-1 to Southern in the 6th inning in 2009.

Idk man. I've gotten multiple PM's about not starting rumors even though there's no way for me to actually prove what I know

What are you talking about? Who would ULL have for the 3 game that's better than Newman and our bullpen?

Who does Jackson St. have that is better than Newman and our bullpen?

No, you have to make a decision that gives you the best chance of advancing. You don't ensure you go 2-0 for the sake of going 2-0. There is no way that Jackson St. is more likely to beat us with Newman pitching than ULL is...even twice.

I'm done here. We are splitting hairs at this point. LSU had a 98% chance of winning before Glenn. After this they have a 97% chance regardless. Big whoop

Why bring it up then if you aren't going to say it?

It's a significant drop off in pitching come Sunday for everyone but us. I'd rather 2-0 with bonvillian and staff ready to go Sunday.

No, what I'm saying is the pitching matchup on Sunday isn't really important at all as long as we win the first 2.

huh? Of course it is important. We may be a favorite either way, but you have to give yourself the best odds.

Advantage LSU Sunday

It is advantage LSU either way we go. But, again, you have to increase your odds as much as possible.

Your approach only makes sense if you think our chances of losing to Jackson St. with Newman is greater than our chances of losing 2 games to ULL with Newman / Bonvillain.

vs. burning Eades, yes.

Plus, there is a pretty decent chance that we'll have the benefit of having a large lead. If that happens, we can use that to our advantage by going to the back of our pen...effectively preserving the guys we'd use in a tight game.

How much risk do you think we are taking by throwing Newman on Friday.

What do you think our chances of losing to Jackson St. would be in that scenario?

Alot, considering he hasn't proven that he can go over 5 innings.
