The Advocate listed some impressive homerun numbers with four of the Coastal Carolina players hitting 15 or more dingers.

For comparison, LSU doesn't have any player with more than 10 homeruns.

CC has 91 total homeruns for the season, which is impressive, while LSU has hit 45.

But when I checked the dimensions of CC's home stadium, its shows 320 feet down each foul line, 365 feet to the power alleys and 390 in dead center field.

Alex Box Stadium is 330 down each line, 365 in the power alleys and 405 in center.

With the shorter dimensions of CC's stadium in center and down the lines, you'd expect them to hit more homeruns but fewer doubles than LSU and that is the case.

CC has hit 101 doubles and LSU has hit 105.

The seating capacity of their stadium is listed as 2,500 but with a berm that can accommodate another 2,500. The largest home crowd in their history came in a game in 2015 vs. South Carolina with 3,086 in attendance.

I'm sure their power numbers have more to do with the way the ball carries there than just the dimensions, we are talking about 5-15 foot differences.

Plus their Walks and OBP and stolen base numbers are impressive. They do strikeout a lot though.

So yea they have a little smaller field...but it ain't like its the difference between Coors Field and Petco Park pre-2014.

Those are not their current stadium's dimensions.

Hopefully, our pitching will be strong enough to keep their batters off balance. If Lange brings his A game, I think we have a decent shot of winning the first game. The old adage is that great pitching stifles good hitting. We shall see.

The difference in doubles is negligible... I wouldn't underestimate the power of the Coastal bats. Them boys can hit.

Makes sense when comparing with HR numbers. They are very aggressive at the plate. Lange and Poche will have to keep them off balance

This is key...staying down in the zone (and in to the boppers) will go a long way towards success for our pitchers this weekend.

It's a SLIGHTLY smaller field than we have but not enough to make up twice as many home run difference. They recruit lots of big time power guys and it's no secret, it's what Coastal Carolina does and is the MO of their program. They are going to swing and miss a lot, but also if they connect on a 93-94mph fastball, watch out.

Their 3B is 6'2, 190 and has hit 18 HR
One of their OF is 5'10, 190 with 15 HR
Their DH is 6'0, 230 and has hit 16 HR
Their SS is 5'9, 175 and has 15 HR

They do.

I believe their number of walks and homeruns might also be influenced by the quality of the pitchers they face.

I doubt those dimensions completely explain their prowess in home run hitting. they also play on the road a lot.

they hit a lot of home runs for two reasons...

1) they faced weaker pitchers
and (or)
2) they are damn good hitters.

probably a combo of both.

I'd imagine that certainly explains a lot of the walks....and homeruns maybe to a little lesser degree.

Let's not forget game three starters in that league are not that strong. I just pray Lange and Poche both have strong outings.
