Coaches don’t care about the SEC Tourney

Sure they want to win but it’s not the goal. Johnson and Mulkey have both said as much. It’s about preparing for the playoffs. If seeding was an issue sure, but if you’re locked to host, the SEC Tourney means nada.
Chill out.

Gavin’s dad tweeted no one wanted to win more than the coaches.

Well just another mistake by Jay then. We may get passed up by 2 teams which greatly plays a role on who you see in a Super. Frankly I would rather have an easier draw. Lord knows the way this team is playing we need all the help we can get. I personally think it’s the fans coping mechanism when we lose to say it doesn’t matter. It matters to the players.

I’m not opposed to putting it back on campus and rotate like softball

It would be awesome in Starkville although probably not enough hotels for teams

Don’t take my word for it, take theirs.
They’re on record. Look it up.

Why is everybody on here trying to prove that nobody cares? That's BS. Lack of timely hitting killed us. That's why we lost

This thread is not about pitching, hitting, the lineup, or why we lost. It is simply that the coaches in sports in which the tournament will not affect their seeding more than marginally, if at all, do not prioritize winning the tournament. I thought the OPs title was fairly self explanatory.

Once again, look it up. The SEC Tournament, according to the coaches is a glorified practice. Of course they want to win, but when JJ was asked about pitching, when Mulkey was asked about the women’s’, the replies were the same: “next weekend is where our sights are, we will do whatever is best to make sure we’re in top shape heading into the playoffs.” [paraphrased]

I agree with you. Tournaments are great and you want to win, but if you have a guaranteed spot in the big tournament, getting some much needed rest is also very valuable.

Why did we use are starting pitchers and best players. Why didn't we just rest everybody if it's meaningless?

Skenes and Floyd were both on pitch counts and White didn’t play yesterday. It’s more nuanced than you want it to be. No more of these excuses going forward. It’s all in

I get it and it makes sense, but it really sucks for the fans that go there to support their team. A lot of families look forward to that event. Many take off work with the intention of spending a long weekend at the ballpark. That was one of the bright spots while Manieri was coaching. You could almost guarantee seeing the tigers play 4 games and making it to championship game.

I think if we would have won that second game we wouldve taken a different approach but when we lost to arky they decided to just get some work in and get home to rest
