I'm at the point that I want O on staff, no matter what. Dude can flat out recruit. And I like that he's crazy as frick. Defensive coaches can get a lot out of players by doing this.

Yeah, it is a little dramatic but put O on a staff like MSU or Bama and they are going to leave a stronger footprint in Louisiana. If we are trying to strengthen this fence, you put O on this staff. Whether it's Haley getting promoted or bringing in Pendergast, you make this happen quickly

Maybe so, but the guy needs to be here. Other teams are already looking for help and don't see why he would hold out for LSU instead of taking a job with another SEC school. All of the LSU writers can't be wrong.

half this board looks for any reason to want Miles fired

We need him on this staff or mark my words he will be at another SEC school and between losing Chavis and not hiring Coach O, our d recruits will basically be gone. The guy is that good. Promote Brick to DC, have him coach the LB's and then hire Coach O. If they don't, the fence is down and down for good.

Chavis didn't recruit much. We got the #2 class in the country without him last year.

We have 17 recruits and are #10 (at-least according to 247) without Coach O and with Chavis leaving.

No way we go from first to worst because some apparent recruiting guru goes to another SEC school.

Brick being promoted is only way Coach O comes in. Unless Brick decides to bolt for another job but I think that is not likely.

Our DL has been underwhelming because of the mass exodus that has taken place. We all know that LSU needs two deep [sometimes three deep] in a rotation to have a fighting chance.
I don't think Brick is a bad coach, or recruiter. BUT, with what you stated that means LSU's DL recruiting has to be stellar to just maintain. That has not been the case and the majority of that (not all by any means) is on Brick.

IMO it would be a failure to keep Brick over Orgeron especially when you know Orgeron wants to be here. I'm not real impressed with our D-Line production or recruiting over the past few years, in fact it has sucked a couple years compared to the past.

But nothing Miles does surprises me

Salmon said earlier, he is a recruiting guru and that is the main reason most want him on staff. Frank and O on the same staff is just flat out ridiculous. Especially with how good Miles is with the parents. He isn't a slouch as a coach either. If we go elsewhere, of well. Sometimes ideas sound better than they actually are. If he goes to MSU, I'm going to start getting nervous. Saban already has a foot in the door and we really don't need another master recruiter ripping boards off our fence. If Miles/Alleva make a hire that does nothing to energize the program and the product on the field is less than what we are used to seeing, then heads need to roll plain and simple.

Not sure if that's just because they want BeBe on the staff

Of course that is why. They are like little schoolgirls with Orgeron.

My .02...seems to me Brick has been a good but not great recruiter and has not done well developing talent on the D line. Anthony Johnson, Sam Montgomery, Rasco all come to mind. perhaps it was Chavis scheme that limited their development but you would think with that kind of natural talent at your disposal you could great some dominant players.

also, has Brick ever called the Defense at any level of football?

Each time a statement like this is made, there is always the "about DC" qualifier. I doubt he'd say he's been contacted about the DL coach job with Haley still here.

How was that defense? I really don't know anything about the guy other than our DLs underperforming the last few years.

pretty bad, but that is still a few years ago and apparently Chavis taught brick is defense or something along those lines. Brick would call a similar defense to Chavis. But that doesn't mean we still import third and chavis on third down. We may actually be aggressive for a change.

But this is in bad taste. Don't talk about specific positions youd be willing to take and don't dangle it out there that Moo State has already contacted you.
