I think he is a damn good actor as evidenced by the lines:

In before Tiger Ree chimes in with “The film critics all agreed Coach Eaux was by far the best actor of the coaches in this movie. There was talk of him and Tim McGraw teaming up for a string of action flicks, but with Coach Eaux’s schedule in dismantling Ole Miss’ program, it couldn’t be worked out.”
“Also, notice Les Miles wasn’t asked to be in the movie.”
