Was it certain Nussmeier would have given you the spark necessary to win the game? Of course not. But it is so much better to have tried and lost rather than not tried at all.
It was clear that Max couldnt sit in the pocket and beat Bama there at the end. Yet we did it over and over and over again. Nuss wouldve given you a little mobility to move him around, a little threat to run and a big arse arm to stretch the field. All things needing to happen. Instead we jump pass over the middle for the three biggest plays of our season.

If he went In the game he does not burn his redshirt , plain and simple . He had played in 3 games so far and can play in 4 games before the redshirt is burned .

It's just like when Les Miles finally let Etling play in 2016 -- external forces led to the decision, that is, 90,000 LSU fans booing Brandon Harris and the LSU offense in the Jacksonville State game.
I hope the next HC will be unlike both Les and O in that if the starting QB is not getting it done, the backup will get his shot without having the fans or a Cowboys assistant coach make the decision for him.

what exactly has Nussmeier done to make us think he is any better than Max?

Nuss Dad said Nuss and family didn’t care about the redshirt anymore and to play him as needed from here on out

Me reading this after Saturday

I accepted the argument that they didn’t want to burn his red shirt but if this is the decision they should have made it weeks ago. Certainly before the Alabama game.

So on Saturday, when we needed him, he didn't play so he didn't burn his redshirt and now he's available to play the rest of the season?
And this comes out TWO days after the Bama game!! You can't make this up!!

quote:This exact thing happened with Parker Edwards while he was playing at Southeastern and played against LSU. Before the game, the coach wanted to redshirt him. As the game went on, Parker said screw this, let me play. He has a career night and earns a walk-on spot at LSU. Literally changed his life
If true, then shame on Nussmeier. It's not his Dad's decision to make. If you are a competitor on the sideline watching your teammates give EVERYTHING they have to try to win the game and you think you can, perhaps, make a difference...you go to the HC and say "Coach, I know we may have discussed differently earlier in the week, but I'm ready to go if you need me."

There were other ways to beat Bama on Saturday. On the three possessions in the 4th quarter for LSU in Bama territory (first one at the 8, second one at the 41, then finally at the 30) just send out Cade York and kick the FGs! That makes more sense than Max's wildly inaccurate throws.

he explained why
Nuss and his father said they didn't want to burn his redshirt. Sunday Nuss told O he wanted to play and his dad called Peetz and said let him play.
Besides HC, QB is the most important position.
Myles "I'd rather fish" Brennan gets injured and mysteriously doesn't have a return date. Then he enters the transfer portal.
Now, it comes out that a healthy player is not playing because the HC is honoring a request/agreement with the family to redshirt.
I'm not a Max fan, but he got out out there EVERY WEEK. As limited as he may be along with the rest of the team. While a healthy option received special treatment.
If players choose not to trust Nuss as a teammate to go to war with them every week, blame his dad and O.
Let O finish the season, though.

You forgot to add that Nussmeir has been completely wild and off target with most of his passes. I'm all for giving him a shot, but he needs to relax.
Go back and watch the first game he played in. Sure it was in garbage time against a chump school. But he threw some absolute dimes that the WR’s dropped. His mobility and awareness is light years ahead of Max and it isn’t even debatable.

O is a freaking idiot. So we have a chance to beat Bama but he won't play Nuss bc of a redshirt. But he'll burn the redshirt against Ark, ULM, and A$M. I guess beating Bama is just not important enough. Glad this fool is fired.

But he’s a slinger and not afraid to throw the ball. Max was afraid to throw the ball on Saturday. We needed someone who would go in there and sling it. We had receivers open all night.

Too late. No point in burning his redshirt now. Should have burned it in the Bama game
