You need to be objective.
THis offense is drasticalyl differnt, and not in a "were opening up the playbook" kid of way.
We deal with situations in a fundamentally different manner.
Last year we put a brand new QB under center for the first time since middle school. Terrible Idea.
We dealt with pressure by bringing in more blockers, but this year we spread teams out, take pass rushers out of the box, and give our QB a lot of targets running quick routes to get the ball to.
Thats not just experience, that a completely change of philosophy.
We were 115th in the country in redzone TD% last year.
When asked about it, E said we didn't have depth at TE and FB.
This year we are 7th in Redzone TD % and have the most redzone TDs in the country
We averaged 24. 5 points a game in regulation in confernce last year. WE are averaging over twice that this year, and scored 42 against a good defense
I woudln't have expected LSu to be Great last year, but there is a lot of room between where the offense was last year and this year.
Being the second best in the west in conference games (in regulation) is the same as being good.

quote:Brady has exceeded expectations, but Brady is not the only coach capable of installing and maintaining a Spread/RPO offense.
this whole season rides on brady. which is why i always say
brady or bust!
E was not doing anything without Joe.
O & E have demonstrated that they are willing to bring in a smart aggressive young-gun - and not be limited to the very few established OC-types who know this new offense scheme.
I'd guess there are a couple dozen young guns out there who can come close to matching Brady's results with the Spread/RPO (with the right QB, and very-well-prepared WRs)

Do you not watch the games?
EVERYTHING is different
Short of stable plays in every teams playbook, this is a brand new offense.
This isn't just adding RPOs
THis is what modern offenses look like.
The talent was ALWAYS there. We have been holding it back all this time.

Why can't you give Brady the credit he deserves? What makes you hate him so much? Are you saying we should fire him immediately with the highest scoring offense in the nation?

I love your "there are lots of people who could do what Joe is doing" argument while completely ignoring that E clearly isn't one of them.

It's almost as if there was an entirely new variable placed into the equation this year...

I think Coach O is a really good coach who should get great credit for knowing how good Joe is and the rest that LSU has done this season. (Said Joe was A+ at first interview when Joe was diagnosing defenses)
He has picked the right coordinators, which is a major part of his job. Very similar to Ryan Day who fired all but one of the 2018 defensive coaches and turned an absolutely awful 2018 defense into a very good 2019 defense, with virtually the same players.
Would also add that within the college football world Joe's talents were well-known -- Not as though some unknown nobody showed up and performed well. His teammates loved him. Dremont Jones, now in the NFL called him a dog. If you look at the spring games and his mop up duty, what stands out is how good he is at hitting receiver's in stride. Much better than JT Barrett. He just needed reps and some support, which he has gotten this year.
I always thought he was a 2d to 4th round NFL draft pick. (Substantially better than last years LSU qbs.) He has far surpassed that this year. Many kudos to him, Orgeron and LSU.

Youre the one doing mental gymnastics to jsutify your terrible positions
This is your position in math terms
1 = 1
1 + x = 100
most people would say x = 99
you're arguing that 1 was always much higher.

Burrow WAS last year's LSU QB.

Of course I love Brady and what he has accomplished. And if LSU can keep him, he's worth what any top co-OC in the nation makes.
But to claim no other coach can maintain a highly functioning Spread/RPO offense, is to ignore what top-tier playoff-level O's have been doing for the past several years with the Spread/RPO.

no one is saying NO ONE else could do this
WE are saying specifically Canada and E couldn't, which is why they weren't good hires.

All I ever did was ask for credit for E
Who says he doesn’t get credit? Every coach gets credit at this point.
But let’s see who’s more sought after this season and who gets the massive bump in pay. The market will decide who gets the most credit.
I didn’t think the cannibalization of Brady would start before he completed his first season.

Most veteran coaches would never let a youngster install a new offense... then share the booth and headsets with the young guy. Damn few would do that.

Why are you obsessed with do-it-yourself projects? E brought in a specialist. In my world, that is the intelligent move to make.
Why re-invent the wheel. Brady has a PhD in this offense.

Just having a little fun, BJ.
That's about how it feels to deal with some of the "positive" guys around here jumping to conclusions.
