talking shite about Arandas defense

Never happened. All he said was that the defense would better this year, which was terribly wrong.

Still doesn't mean that he will be a good head coach.

All indicators are he will be a good head coach. Baylor is in a good spot, they are recruiting pretty well for Baylor.....lets see what it will be like for him after this Covid stuff blows over.

Well known that O...um,..."encouraged" Aranda to seriously consider any head coaching offers last off season.

He was taking to the team Through the media when he said that. Trying to give his guys some confidence...

Aranda undestands. His feelings weren’t hurt by a little coach speak.

He literally saved O's job in 2016 and 2017 guy. On top of helping us win a national championship last season.

All he said was that Aranda wasn’t a great head coach. I wouldn’t close the book on him yet, but Baylor did go from double digit wins to a really rough season this year. It’s not the same as being a great DC.

It was a really stupid and petty sounding thing to say, no matter what he meant. A head coach of a top program should understand how people are going to take the statements they make. It was completely unnecessary and it set him up to look bad. There’s no justifying it.

God forbid that a coach should publicly encourage his team.

What he should do is shite on them like you and so many on the Rant do. Amirite?

never heard him denigrate Aranda. He has repeatedly stated he wanted a 4-3 defense not a 3-4. He stressed Aranda likes 3-4.

Why would O favor a 4-3 defense?
Seems like a 3-4 makes the most sense in the SEC

Though it's not a secret he thought Aranda's defense was more "passive" than he would like.

And I agree with Orgeron, although I was an Aranda defender even when he was very unpopular on this board. I like those delayed linebacker, or safety, blitzes right in the QB’s face. Once a QB takes a few of those hits his performance goes downhill, eg Mettenberger and Lee.

I like the attacking nature of Pelini’s 4-3 because offenses have such an advantage that you need negative plays to stop the really good ones. Aranda’s defense, although excellent, had too few of those negative plays. An example is Thornton’s strip sack before half. That was probably a six point swing in the game.

Further, Louisiana does not produce many of the 3-4 monsters. In the 4-3 you only need two of them.
