In that case, it belongs to Joe Burrow.

Just give it to the whole team.

Coach O deserves all the credit in the world for rolling out the red carpet for Burrow and going out and getting a guy that 99% of this board, including myself, had never heard of in Joe Brady.

Without those 2 moves lsu is not where we are today.

Very true. He had to find a QB. He had to modernize the offense. His biggest mistake thus far was Canada. He had to fix that and he was smart enough to know he couldn’t risk another failed OC. His solution was combining E with an innovative assistant who had the goods on spread, RPO concept.
However he’s done more than that. He’s hired the analysts and changed the culture of the program. He’s remaking the roster. Listen to the players. Several of them have commented on the changes in the program. O is doing what any good CEO does: define the vision; put the pieces in place; hire the right talent; delegate and let them do their jobs.
The two Joe’s have been the missing pieces but O will build off of this years success.

What we do know. Coach O and this LSU team is #1 and look like the best team in the entire nation.
Have even watched an Ohio State or Clemson game this year? All three look really good.

Even O supporters are shocked. Lol.

I have become one at this point. He’s done eveything he said he would so far.

would be willing to hire a guy who could be a likely threat to his job in the future.

Ensminger knows he’s close to retirement. He knows he’s training his replacement. Him suggesting Brady probably didn’t phase him one bit.

So they are losing to good teams. Who have they beat. Any coach in the country can take the athletes at those 2 programs and beat everyone on Clemson’s schedule. Those coaches were brought in to compete at the highest level not to be mediocre

Exactly right, Orgeron has done a great job and nobody should be complaining about this season one bit but let’s be honest about all the situations and who inherited what. Orgeron inherited a top 5 roster that had won fewer than 9 games twice in the previous 13 seasons where Herman inherited a 5 win team then took them to the conf title in his second season and Jimbo inherited a 7 win team which he’s improved on also. In the full seasons of record O has improved his preceding season by 2 wins, Herman by 5 and Jimbo by 1. All have been successful hires in different situations with different expectations.

I wanted Jimbo as HC. But I accepted the O hiring and was willing to give him a chance. I had my doubts and I am glad to eat some crow. Those who are still hating on him can frick themselves and the horse they came riding in on.

And there’s nothing wrong with those initial speculations. There was no objective evidence that said Orgeron was a great hire. The other coaches mentioned had proven more up to that point so this attack on people who questioned the hire is really an attack on objectivity which seems to be a scarlet letter on the Rant.

They were pre season #5 the year O took over and were stocked with the most NFL talent LSUs ever had. 13 draft picks in the upper class, an LSU 2 year record.

It was a quality roster, but not championship material. Can't give Coach O enough credit for what he's done with this roster from top to bottom.

So many people said O-bashers secretly wanted O to fail so we/they could say they were right all along.

Strangely enough, I'm happy as I've been with this program in many many years. Very glad to be wrong.

Let's finish this

Are you sure? What if we had that Roster running this offense? Of course I don’t think Etling would be as good as Burrow but he’d still be setting LSU records and that defensive personnel was lightyears better than what we have now. I think with Joe Brady in tow that roster is definitely a title contender.

Am I 100% sure? Of course not. But, I don't think it would have been enough to beat the caliber of teams it would take to win a championship in the SECCG, the semifinal and then the national championship game. But, I do laugh at those that try to claim it was any kind of a rebuild.

That’s a good point that maybe some of the teams that year were just better. I do think wedve had a “chance” though. That D held Bama to 10 points while the eventual Champ, Clemson, gave up 31 to them. Like I said I don’t think Etling does what Burrow is doing but in this offense with Dupre, Chark and Dural coupled with LF7 and Guice in the backfield, I think wedve been pretty damn scary.
