Coach Les Miles quotes
Certainly, an individual might engage in reflective ponderance upon bygone eras. In the back end, we achieve a very nostalgic want for that which has entered a state of absence in our lives.

I’ve heard Coach Miles is not doing well.
That’s a shame. I was wondering about that as he’s mostly disappeared from public outings

It's unfortunate that he is judged by a lot of fans on the back nine of his tenure here, starting with what transpired on 1/9/12. But the quirkiness just wasn't as charming as it was when we saw what Bama was turning into before our eyes.
I think he would've won AT LEAST 2 more championships here if it wasn't for Saban.
Even then, it's still criminal that we had to play them in a rematch as opposed to Oklahoma State. We would've beat the brakes off of them by any stretch, and I think he is easily considered one of the GOATs in CFB history.

That team was the best lsu football, at its core, all 3 phases, I've ever seen

That’s fine, but others figured it out.
Orgeron, Kelly, Dabo, Kirby, Urban, Hugh Freeze, etc
Let’s look at the coaches you named:
Orgeron record vs Saban: 1-6
Kelly record vs Saban: 1-3
Dabo record vs Saban: 2-2
Kirby record vs Saban: 1-4
Urban record vs Saban: 2-2
Hugh Freeze record vs Saban: 2-4
Les Miles record against Saban: 3-7
Notice NO ONE had even a winning record against him. Temper your expectations

None of them went 0-5 either did they?

Your opinion is yours. Les was great for LSU and won at a high clip during the absolute most dominant era of SEC football. Some people aren’t satisfied

I agree with this. I don’t agree that he “kept LSU in the golden era” post 2011. In fact, I’d say he ended LSU’s golden era. Coach O caught it for a year. Hopefully BK brings it back

Had Nick Saban never coached at LSU and Les Miles came here and did what he did (same record, lone NC, recruiting), he would be widely viewed as the greatest coach in LSU history. Had Nick Saban not gone to Alabama, I firmly believe Les Miles would have another NC or 2 under his belt.
Nothing occurs in a vacuum, however, and those things did occur.
Les Miles faltered at the end. He's still extremely deserving of a lot of praise and respect from LSU fans.
He was a damn good football coach.

Teams used to fear tiger stadium and our defensive under Les were always top notch savages with a certain swag.
People used to clown him for doing the Big Cat drills but it created a mentality that we really haven’t had on defense since his tenure

A great what if I’ve always wondered:
What if Saban never comes back to college football. What is Les’s legacy then? Probably wins at least another national championship. Couple more SEC titles.

You think Les is the reason we had great defenses? He did recruit great defensive players

He hired good coordinators and recruited good players. If he's not responsible for it, then who is?

Just as he deserves respect and admiration for all he did here, he deserves scrutiny and frustration for 1/9/12. That was one of the lowest points of my LSU fandom, which stretches back to 1986 or so.

I don’t think you’ll find a single LSU fan who excuses what happened on 1/9/2012.
After that point it was tough and everyone agrees change was needed, but he was a great coach.

To start, he went 0-5 against Bama after the “game of the century”.
What was his record against Saban? Like 3-7?
Now do everyone else’s record against Saban at bama
You people are the fricking worst.
