Besides the injury report which is huge news, I found this the most informative and it matches up to what I've been seeing with my own eyes:

quote:

I thought Steve dialed up the game plan on the, in the passing game, the crossing routes were wide open. Those things are working well. I do expect Joe to play better. He's had some really good games, he's had some okay games, and he knows that, he's a competitor. I would expect him to pick up his game the next couple games.

Burrow's play has fallen off. He's holding the ball and isn't identifying open WRs. This happens a lot when QBs get consistent pressure. Instead of keeping their eyes downfield and stepping up into the pocket, they get gunshy and try to escape the pocket too early.

Obviously, we have major issues on the OL...but we are now seeing the QB contribute to the woes.

Thanks for posting this, Ree. This is the quote people are taking about in the other thread and I just don't have a problem with it at all.
quote:

This team wanted to win the National Championship. We never talked about it as a team. I know they did. I know their heart was there. Not to say that we can't do it still and I don't know that, but we never set that as a goal as a team. I didn't want to put that on them because if you do that, once you don't have a chance your season goes south.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with that statement at all.

The transcript is my favorite way to get the information.

Ree, I don't like the majority of the shite you post because most of it is utter bullshite that's designed to push the narrative of O, but I do appreciate this thread in particular because it's important to hear what O actually said instead of having people start threads twisting his words around to push their own narrative. So, sincerely, thank you for this.

No there isn’t. Except last year, it had been stated he told the team it was their goal. But hey, things change.

Disagree. You just have a bias towards the program about something and for some reason view everything I post as being personal towards you.

If you look at the threads I have started (click my username and then "all topics") you will see that the majority of the shite that I post is not close to utter bullshite.

It is your hang-up or outlook and certainly not mine and has nothing to do with me.

Of course it's their goal. It is the goal of a lot of teams. But if you harp on winning a NC or bust all season, then once you are out of that picture what do you have to play for? There is nothing wrong with saying what he did.

I don't think this team ever really established an identity on offense, and it's a bit late in the game to try to find it now.

I think we’re not connecting on the main point here. One season he states publicly to the team, “A championship is our goal”. This year he says, “I don’t tell the team it’s our goal, but they know it’s their goal.”

Just pointing out he’s changed his philosophy, or forgot, or heck....I don’t know...the dude changes a lot of what he says.

I agree that the quote is not as bad as it seemed out of context.

But I still think the goal is to win a championship. He said on ESPN that you go to LSU to beat Alabama. If your goal is to beat Alabama, then your goal should be to win a championship.

that was a perfect gif response, but since my compliment was a backhanded one to begin with I won't bother to engage him.

I agree with that. I also think it's one thing to say that there's an understood/unspoken goal of beating Bama as well as win a Championship during a players tenure at LSU. It's another thing to announce to the team during the off season that "our goal this season is to win the national championship."

There's a difference between a program goal of winning championships and team goals.
