Are you suggesting the O detractors didn't have a decent sample size on which to be critical?

Sample size is not the word to use. 1 season isn’t enough of a sample size.

Now there were a few things last year that would cause worry. But they weren’t things that should have been met with the vitriol that accompanied.

Reading thru some threads that I have bookmarked, any positive things coming out of the program this offseason were met with strong opposition. I’m talking recruiting, position battles, & just basic media reports by the team, painting Ed Orgeron as totally & completely incompetent.

Truth be told a lot of this positive news in being reinforced right now. Does it mean we will beat every team on our schedule?? No! But it does mean that there are some good things going on with this program. You can hate Coach O and still acknowledge it, & it should have been acknowledged all offseason. But pure hate wouldn’t let people say That

and if we finish 9-3, are people jumping back off the bandwagon? It's a long season, you know that.

9-3 could be fine, or it could be ugly. Per usual, no one on this board deals in context when it comes to W/L record.

For both the Miami and Auburn games there were countless threads calling out “haters”, hardly “tame”. but no matter what anyone says it was always going to be wait and see nothing has been proven yet except we won 1 game, Auburn, pretty much everyone thought we’d lose.

1 it’s a lot of people I haven’t seen post most offseason

2 if you’re talking about Tiger Ree, do not align his posts with everyone else. I’m tired of people assuming he speaks for everyone that saw some promise in this program.

I didn’t see him taking victory laps on the score board but there were multiple threads

O detractors

These people are as dumb as "O supporters"

Its a team. Coaches, players come and go. I don't care who the coach or QB is as long as the team is winning.

Like it or not, the coaching staff drives much of the enthusiasm around the team.

I think it’s great he manned up and admitted that he underestimated coach O. It’s ok to be wrong and it’s even better to admit when you are wrong. I actually gained respect for him after watching this. It doesn’t hurt my feelings when someone picks against LSU like it does a lot of fans. It only makes it that much more satisfying when they have to admit they were wrong. I love it!

I don't follow Travis, so I am only operating on this particular video, but that was actually quite a sincere and unqualified apology. I don't think sports reporters need to apologize for being wrong, but when they do, it's usually half-assed or with a hint of jest. His was legit.

So he's wrong and he apologizes for not believing... But he's predicting LA Tech to beat us.

What a douche.

I can't believe I'm defending him, but do you understand what a point spread is?

Totally understand your logic. But with an elite defense, and a great kicker, we'll be in every game. Now if we can get the O clicking...

He’s predicting them to cover the spread not beat us out right

I don't know, "strong" opposition is your opinion.

When we're discussing these things (outside of guys like Ree), I just think we're having a discussion with differing points of views but some of you apparently have no tolerance for dissent.

You could go back every offseason that O's ever coached going back to OM and there were always positive things he did. The thing is those changes didn't necessarily result in positive change for the football team. Thus far it seems to have, and we'll see how things hold up for the remainder of the year. I don't fault anyone that viewed the changes through a skeptical lens.

If we're at the end of the year and it turns out I was wrong about how good this team is, so be it. I don't have a problem with being wrong. Everyone's wrong at some point. I don't need to hedge my bets or anything like that so I'm not ever caught on the wrong side.

I've been blissfully unaware of Clay Travis since he blocked me on Twitter back when he blamed LSU for the Florida hurricane game fiasco in 2016. I'd highly recommend it.
